She blinked trying to look straight ahead, everything she saw was covered in black, she wrinkled her brow as she tried to understand what was happening. She tried to take a step, but, she was still in the same place, puzzled she tried again, but her legs did not obey, keeping her place.
She was getting desperate with every second that passed, she wanted to scream, but the moment she opened her mouth to complain she realized that she could not hear her voice. She widened her eyes in fear, tried to shake her arms but to no avail as her upper limbs remained limp at her sides.
It seemed that she had spent hours in that dark place, the silence and calm only caused the feeling of dread to increase until she felt that she was being suffocated, however there were no hands that were squeezing her neck, no rope to obstruct her breathing, which became erratic.
She tried to close her eyes and regulate her breathing, in vain if the fact that her shortness of breath was getting worse with every second.
Something forced her to open her eyelids.
But it was better to have been blinded
Images appeared in her panorama. Her confusion was present as she saw flashes of a childhood filled with laughter, of witnessing her father's affection and words of encouragement as well as jokes and hugs. For a moment she thought her previous discomfort would disappear as she watched those moments fondly.
How wrong she was
Just as the happiness came the atmosphere froze.
It was no longer that house in Siberia where she had felt that feeling of brotherly love.
Ephemeral fragments began to emerge in her vision. Memories of how she saw dozens of people die before her, of how the blood flowed unceasingly down the rocky surface like water flowing into a river. She saw how they were impaled or even eaten without being able to make any change.
Not wanting to witness those scenes any longer, he looked away to the ground, but his pupils widened with great force at what he saw.
His own hands covered with that crimson liquid.
She took two steps backwards, if her mind registered the fact that she could move her body she did not show it, she only wanted to drown out those screams of pain that suddenly attacked her, however her hands on her ears did not do much to appease her torment.
"Murderer!"
"Why are you even still alive!"
"Somebody help me!"
"I-I don't want to die..."
"(Hush...)" she gritted her teeth, the voices as if mocking her increased instead of stopping. Kiana was getting tired, she wouldn't think she could resist that torment any longer.
But for someone like Kiana what she would see next destroyed any thought of strength in her.
"Kiana..." she turned her head upwards, tears coming out uncontrollably.
In front of her was full of wounds and bruises her beloved Raiden Mei, a smile that made her heart clench with more pain. Her jet hair and that she wore proudly in a ponytail was free, the uniform shredded. In the center of his torso a wound spanned from his right shoulder to his left side. Blood kept leaking from it.
"M-mei..." the smile grew wider with greater force but Kiana knew better.
She didn't deserve that gesture of kindness.
The tension was becoming more and more painful, blue eyes looked guiltily at those amethysts.
When the white-haired girl was about to speak she didn't have time, a few meters away from Mei a bigger shadow was approaching dangerously. Feeling the alarms in her own mind she tried to force her body to react and go to save her. But his speed was deficient, even if he tried to run with all his strength he could not reach her. Portals with several spears appeared on several sides of the black-haired woman, the anxiety increased even more in Kiana.
"Meiiiiiii!" she cried helplessly, the distance although shorter didn't prevent the spears from lining up aiming at the girl. A sad smile graced Mei's face.
"I'm sorry Kiana..." and like the end of a cruel play her body was pierced by the first spear in front of her, and as if a switch had been flipped her body turned into a pincushion, the glow in the amethyst orbs was lost forever.
Kiana froze, her knees wavered, she did not know when it was that her shoulders began to shake, but the movement as the ancient feeling of suffocation came over her again.
"Mei..." she heard no response, the tears intensified.
"Pathetic, but I didn't expect much from my container."
Footsteps echoed in the place, her sight previously on Mei's body was raised where she glimpsed the figure of a woman approaching the two of them, it was like seeing an exact copy of Kiana but with golden eyes, eyes that looked coldly. The Kaslana narrowed her eyes in fury.
Sapphire looked at golden, the tension between the two was becoming more and more overwhelming.
Until golden broke the ice by giving the blues a mocking look.
"Don't look at me that way...you reap what you sow."
His lips curved into a smile full of cruelty.
"After all you were the one who killed her."
Suddenly the vision cut off, blue eyes snapped open wide. The upper half of her body rose up where she could feel her erratic heartbeat, air left her lungs as her mouth opened and closed trying to get some of the life energy.
But it was all in vain, she could still see that face staring back at her with that sickly smile. The hundreds of bodies surrounding the panorama...
And Mei's lifeless body on the ground...
Her shoulders were grabbed where she felt the strong grip on them. Cyan eyes looked worriedly at her.
"Kiana react!"
But even with this she was still trapped in the dream, replaying like a broken record that tragic scene.
Her body was leaned forward, arms wrapped around her shoulders to pull her closer, her ears picked up the heartbeat of her opponent's heart.
"It's all over now..." she sensed fingers slowly and gently stroking the white strands of her hair, the action helped her breathing return to normal "There's nothing to fear anymore..."
Tears again flowed from her blue orbs, she hid her face in her chest.
Fu Hua sighed but only tightened his grip further as he continued to caress her head, waiting for the tremors to subside.
He did not have to wait long. After five minutes the sobs ended, now he could only see the soft, slow rise and fall of her chest, indicating that she had fallen asleep. She looked gently at the younger girl beside her.
She knew the pain Raiden Mei's death had brought to the ever cheerful Kiana Kaslana, of how her world had crumbled like a house of cards. She had hurt too but her pain was minuscule in comparison to that of the younger girl in her arms.
This wasn't the first time she'd had night terrors related to Mei, the first time in the hospital wing she'd knocked out several doctors while still trapped in her nightmare.
Fortunately Fu Hua seemed to be one of the few if not the only one who could calm her enough to go back to sleep.
She stroked her right cheek where the younger of the two purred, a giggle came from Fu Hua. She had made a promise to Mei to protect Kiana, no matter if it was something mundane or something silly, she would be there for Kiana just as Mei was.
It would be a long process for the Kaslana to recover from her deep pain. But she would wait.
After all patience is her greatest virtue.
