Like Old Times

Summary:

Resurrecting this series simply for some fluff that popped into my head that I needed to write down. This takes place the day after Chapter 2 of Elisa's fic.

Work Text:

Elisa woke up in the bed lent to her by Kamihama’s coordinator. It was her first morning since she found herself in Kamihama.

She sat herself up and stretched. Through her blurry morning vision she could make out a long haired figure in the bed next to her.

Melissa…

Her heart filled with joy upon remembering that she was with her love once again. She promptly embraced her tenderly.

“I can’t even express how happy I am to see you my dearest!”

“…”

It didn’t take long for Elisa to notice that something was off.

She feels…tall all of a sudden? And since when did she have such an ample bosom?

When she opened her eyes and saw black hair she immediately realized her mistake.

“Not that I’m not happy to see you too Elisa…” she heard Liz’s voice say, “but are you sure you aren’t mistaking me for someone else?”

Adding to the comedy of the error taking place, Melissa walked in the room at that very moment.

“Ah, you’re finally awake!” She said nonchalantly.

As Elisa slumped dramatically on her bed in humiliation Liz recounted the events of the past few moments to Melissa.

“Pfft- ahaha!”

She had a good laugh over the situation.

“I’m not bothered, but I do find it curious that she mistook me for you of all people…” Liz remarked.

“I can explain that easily actually! You see, a few years after you and Tart passed I started wearing my hear long and let it fall across my face.” Melissa explained. “Many people said that I highly resembled you, considering that and the fact that it’s been 10 years I can see why she made such a mistake!”

“Oh?”

Liz seemed intrigued.

“Here, I’ll show you…”

Melissa undid her bun and rearranged her hair slightly.

“Oh wow, that is a rather uncanny resemblance.” Said Liz. “Did you do that…on purpose?”

“Not at first, but even when people started to point it out I decided to go along with it, I even started wearing a cape and altered my weapon. As much as I admired Tart when I was young I think that you were the one I wanted to be like. You were always so strong and levelheaded, I think taking on the image of someone like that helped me to embody those traits for myself, and it kept my memories of you alive in turn.”

“I’m…immensely flattered Melissa.” Liz replied. “Don’t sell yourself short though, you’ve always been one of the strongest people I know. You don’t need to emulate me, I’m not special in that regard.”

“Why thank you! You are far too humble, but I do think I will retire this look, at the very least because it would confuse people.” Said Melissa. “I’m not sure if I want to keep wearing it up though, I’ll have to give it some thought…”

Elisa sighed melodramatically.

“I see how it is…always looking up to Tart or Liz…I suppose I am not worthy of such admiration…”

“Oh for heaven’s sake, you’re already the love of my life, is that not enough for you?!”

“It’s more than enough, after all I’m merely jesting!” The former princess replied with a grin.

“Why you…!”

Melissa marched over and whipped Elisa lightly with the towel as she laughed heartily. Liz chuckled and shook her head.

“Well, why don’t we go and eat breakfast? We’d best not keep Tart waiting.”
