Chapter 1: Meeting them

Chapter Text

They don’t know what to think about her. Mostly because they don't know anything about Midoriya Inko.

She is just so… Kind? Always smiling, seems to be amazing in the kitchen and is very, very emotional. Sure, it might be hormones and the fact she just gave birth, but the woman cries at the flip of a switch, and it is incredible that she doesn't seem to be dehydrated after it. At first, they thought it was her quirk, but no, she was just like that.

So HOW did a woman like that end up having a kid with All for One?!

It was safe to say she is not his follower – All for One isn't the sort of criminal that tends to mix his personal life with his empire. Midoriya-san also thinks her husband works in a humble finance office.

“At least he didn't overkill and say he was the CEO or something.”

“With this house, it would be easier to say he was.”

And what a house. With a traditional design, a garden, tatami floors and Shoji doors? Not to mention all the utensils in the kitchen – always the latest model? Either that man was trying to actually bride his wife into silence or that was his way to show he cared.

From personal experience, it is a mix of the two.

And then there was Izuku. If Midoriya Inko was an unanswered question, Izuku is an ongoing mystery.

None of the Holders knew how to deal with the idea of All for One having a family – and the fact that All for One's son seemed to be able to see and hear them did complicate things a little.

Both Xi-Wang and Nana had a lot of trouble spending time with Izuku, each of them for their own reasons. Morita had his reservations with said child, and would occasionally come out of the Void, creating a strange game of Peek boo with the baby… Who would smile and clap every time he spotted the Third Holder.

If his mother was always smiling, then he was always laughing, seemingly at everything. Hikage could be just staring at him and the baby would be having a blast. In fact, those staring contests became a thing between the two. So far, Hikage has been winning by a landslide.

“How do you manage to go so long without blinking ?”

The other man simply shrugs his shoulders.

Banjo, on the other hand, loved to play with the child. He went out of his way to create new games just to play with the kid. Not only that but also working on a whole lexicon that would translate curse words into flower names, because, and that was a direct quote, ‘I won’t be the reason this kid ends up saying fuck. ’.

Apparently, the corresponding word for said curse word was Butterfly Weed. For some reason.

En would simply stand by, very quietly and only after going back inside the Void would he speak again.

“He is a cute little bugger, isn't he?”

All he can do is nod.

But so far, of all the Holders, only Yoichi had spent every single day along with his nephew since his birth. To be blood-related to someone besides Hisashi still sounded like a foreign concept. Hell, for his brother to have a child seemed something more made up than those silly comic books they used to read, once upon a time, when their lives were easy and carefree.

But no. The proof is sitting right in front of him. Currently having a nap.

Izuku had Hisashi’s curls, but not his nose. No, that is all his mother, just like those cheeks of his. He also has her laughter and the tendency to cry for a long time. Surprisingly, he didn’t cry when he was fussy, but only when he was sad.

“You have my eyes though. And I see some freckles too.”

He chuckled. God, what a strange situation. When Izuku opened his eyes, Hisashi’s mask slipped away for a few seconds. His brother was genuinely surprised to see that familiar green shade in his son’s eyes, so much so that he even wept.

Please, please don’t turn this child into a replacement. Let Izuku become his own person.

He hoped the eye colour and freckles were the only few things Izuku inherent from him. So far, his nephew is a very healthy boy; but he is still a baby. Hisashi doesn’t need an excuse to go over the top and protect his child. His brother doesn’t need an actual doctor's note to be… Caring.

He has a great number of concerns, all of them involving the safety of these two people he suddenly met but who might never meet him. Concerns he doesn’t feel entirely comfortable sharing with others. How is it fair to bother them with this, when all of their lives got interrupted because of the mess his brother created? For Yoichi to simply vent, for him to share what was bothering him… It sounded incredibly selfish.

How can he really ask for their sympathy regarding their killer’s family?

×××

The days go on, and Yoichi keeps falling in love with his nephew and sister-in-law.

He kept visiting every day, using the excuse that he was doing surveillance, to see if they really needed to be worried or if they were just being paranoid.

A terrible excuse really, but so far, no one has called him out on his own bullshit. He can’t tell if anyone actually believes him or if they aren’t just bothering of telling him off. After two weeks, all he figured out was that Midoriya-san deserved better than Hisashi. She needs to find a divorce lawyer, make them write the Holy Grail of prenuptial, and dump his ass.

… Maybe she should find refuge in a hero's agency before sending that particular sect of documents, just to be safe. The last time he knew, there was a list of the Top Heroes going on, perhaps Inko could start looking for help at the Top 5. Sure, it sounds like a scratch for any of them to give a single mother refuge without a single concrete evidence of why she needs to but…

“Hey.”

He looks over his shoulder and finds his husband by his side.

That’s… New.

“Hey, stranger.”

“Hey.”

Izuku is still sleeping, in an adorable onesie – a hero one and despises not knowing who it was, the choice of colours and shapes on display were pretty obvious if not generic. Some gauntlets, mostly dark blue fabric with a dash of red and white stripes on the side? There is even a cape.

Is it too cliché that he wants to pinch his nephew's checks?

(There is also a nostalgic part of him, a sad feeling, that wonders how Miura looked during that age.)

“… How are his checks so big?”

It flutters his heart, it really does.

“Baby fat I guess.”

A-Wang chuckled at that.

“Maybe he's just cute. Seems to take after his 叔叔.”

He blushes.

“You flirt.”

His husband kisses him.

Is a good day.
