Summary
Steve had always known there was something in the water.
He had lived along the coastline his whole life, felt as much made of the sand and grass as he did skin and bone. He felt each rush of water, lamented each eroded layer of rock as it was pushed and pulled by the ocean away from the shore. And though he did not quite believe his grandmother’s tales of krakens or leviathans, he had sense enough to trust in his instincts when they told him that something was watching.
