Summary:

Notes:

I REALLY DON’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE THE 3 GREATS! Also how to write 8 year old versions of 2 kids we only have seen in the manga for about only 3 chapters? Worried this will end up horribly. Even seeing them for only 3 chapters, we still get a great feel for their characters. I hope I’m going in the right vibe for their characters.

Chapter Text

The deep green of the forest's shadows towered over the small yellow tent. While wild and loud caws of birds swarmed the small tent. Growls of bears, and sounds of terror that would cause most people to stop in their tracks. Danger was all most people could ever think of in this horrible living situation. I mean, who would ever need to live to like this?

The howling of the trees. The suspicious mushrooms underneath a tree. All of it was danger. Dark, alone, and creepy, the forest warns the world not to go anywhere near it. Danger lurked around any corner. Surprisingly a small and helpless looking boy could be seen inside the forest.

Suzuki Iruma, age 8. The small boy slowly and carefully moved out of his tiny tent, making sure to not make a sound. His vibrant blue hair contrasted the dark green of the deep forest. When he made sure not to wake any danger up, he had made a face of determination. He was going to find food today! Yesterday he wasn’t able to get anything for food. A bear had tried to attack him, and he was forced to leave the food behind. As he was in deep thought, he made a plan to not waste any energy while securing food.

When he took one more step, his old life had been transformed into a chaotic and hectic one. The scenery was like jelly, soon starting to become deformed and all wavy. The deep green of the forest soon transformed into a dark red. 2 moons replaced that of the normal and bright sun. Warmth had soon disappeared and the cold had soon come in its stead. So, yes, his life was starting to become different. Such a difference that it made him a grandson of a demon.
...

Iruma, for lack of a better word, had a hard time with his new life. It has been about 2 months since he became the grandson of a demon. His adoptive grandfather is a demon named Sullivan, and had taken Iruma since his scumbag parents had sold him for quick money. When Iruma meets then again he will have to scold them!

His life was vastly different. From who takes care of him, his adoptive grandfather who spoils him and his scumbag parents who only used him for money. Even living conditions being a butler named Opera who makes delicious meals everyday from barely making enough to make a single meal each day. Even the housing to living in a spacious mansion from living in a tiny tent in the middle of the woods. It was hard to tell what the real underworld was, or even if he wanted to go back at all!

Still munching on his 5th plate of breakfast, he sighed heavily. “Iruma, my boy. What’s the matter?” The deep voice rumbled from his grandfather's mouth. Opera, the red haired butler then asked, “Is the food not to your liking?” His cat-like horns dropped down a little. Iruma panicked a bit at the thought of worrying the 2 of them. He then put his hands up, shaking them as for a no. “I-it’s not that, the food tastes amazing like always! But...” Iruma looked to the side, perking both of the adults' attention onto him. “I-I just don’t... wanna mess up this time.”
...
Flashback time from 2 days ago. Iruma Suzuki, now officially Iruma Sullivan, had a really hard time in the underworld. The underworld had its striking very similar similarities with the over world, but Iruma still had a hard time with fathoming about other demons. I mean, they were going to eat him if they figured out that he was a human! Because of this fear Iruma had started avoiding contact with anything seemingly demon related. Of course not having the ability to say no, this was harder for him. He helped out with chores, but he actively never went outside. Only ever going out when invited, but never went past the gate. Even learning about this world was hard! The tests he was given by Opera, he always failed! Feeling as if he let them down, he vowed that he was going to make them proud one day by visiting the outside of the manor!

When the next morning rolled around, he was awoken by Opera to eat breakfast. When Opera left he got up and changed out of his purple pajamas into different household clothes. The clothes were a white oversized long sleeve t-shirt and a pair of purple shorts. He hurried outside of his room and carefully walked out, making sure to not make any noises. Even when walking carefully, he made sure to walk fast to not make them wait.

The dining table was filled to the brim with strange looking foods. Though Iruma couldn’t complain, he was used to eating strange ingredients together to get by I’m the forest. When he sat down, he was quickly bombarded with attention from the 2 demons next to him. His grandpa changed from his presentable self, into an egg looking shape. He asked how his sleep was and how the training in education was going. Iruma sweated, a bit overwhelmed with the new attention, but answered accordingly. He was getting better at adjusting, but still had a hard time.
Opera put a generous amount of food on his plate before speaking. “I apologize, but I must leave to attend the house before the guests arrive tomorrow.” Iruma perked up. Guests? What guests? Like demons? Before Iruma could become lost inside the questions, his thought was interrupted by his grandfather. “Don’t worry my sweet boy, these demons are friends of mine.”

Iruma’s thoughts of danger quickly dissipated. If their grandpa’s friends then they won’t eat me! Iruma sighed, but quickly shouted out, “No-Not that I doubted you, just was worried for a second!” This seemed to entertain the demon, as he jumped out of his seat and returned to egg form. He hugged Iruma as tight as he could and had giant tears flow down. “IRUMA MY BOY! WHAT A LOVELY BOY! TO THINK YOU WOULD NEVER DOUBT ME, OF COURSE YOUR OLD GRAMPS WOULD NEVER PUT YOU IN DANGER!”

Iruma couldn’t breathe, but held on tight on his last breath. Sullivan then stopped and decided to leave the table. He seemed satisfied with something, and even a little proud. When leaving the table he was waving without looking back, “Also they're bringing their grandkids with them too, so you’ll hang out with them too!” This shocked the 8 year old. Sullivan was already a couple feet away, but he continued by saying, “If you need me, then I’ll be in my office!” After saying that he skipped down the hallway, extremely happy to talk with his grandson. His aura was filled with flowers.

He was left with his mouth left open, now extremely worried. Grandkids? So like a play date? He started to question how demons even played with each other. With that he thought of the torture methods. His thoughts were on the books he read with Opera when learning, but he was too scared to even remember anything! The thought of Iruma on a board as they pulled a lever to pull him apart had crossed his mind, but he quickly shook them away. His grandfather never wanted to hurt him. If grandfather believed in them, what right did Iruma have to judge people before he meets them? For some reason Iruma couldn’t help but smile at the thought of both Opera and grandpa. Though, he didn’t completely trust the new demons, but he couldn’t change anything. There is no point to moping around! He quickly finished his other 6 plates, and went up to his room to study.

A few hours later, and Irumas eyes started to droop down, he yawned, completely tired. The light of the Netherworld died down, and came the 2 moons. Always accompanied with each other, never lonely. He appreciated the moons, it was never alone. On Earth the moon was always described as lonely in a couple myths, but here the moon had another moon follow it. The 2 moons shined brighter and it didn’t feel as lonely as it did on Earth. The dark wasn’t something Iruma was afraid of. Quite the opposite. He was used to live in the dark forests of Earth. Though, it always seemed to carry bad dreams and feelings. He had never complained. Never to his parents, but he hated the dark. The feeling of loneliness swelling inside him.

For some reason, every night, both demons came in to check up on him. As he was accompanied with the 2 for the night, grandpa had expressed that maybe he should sleep with Iruma in case he gets nightmares. Opera had disagreed with him, and told him he would just awaken Iruma in the night. Iruma smiled, but had accidentally blurted out that he did get lonely when night had came. Ever since that night both demons have visited him before he slept. Every night Opera had came in to tuck him in for the night. Every night the feeling of loneliness has disappeared, even when Opera leaves, even when grandpa was busy.

Within the twinkling stars of the night, fate had decided to string chaos into the world. Underneath the red strings of fate, a human boy in the underworld. The said boy was doing something on his own, in deep thought. If anyone had seen him, many people would think it was a strange sight. A petite boy in strange pajamas was seen looking up in his massive bed. Deep in thought, conviction soon flooded his weary eyes. He reached with his hands and grabbed at nothing to form a fist in the air. This time he wouldn’t mess up!
