Chapter Text
Ann found herself falling from the sky screaming as she fell closer to what looked like a ship. She wondered whose ship it was. As she got closer she saw it more clearly, it was the Moby Dick. She saw people looking up at her and some looked like they started to freak out. She then landed on something that flew past her, catching her. Looking to see what caught her and saw blonde hair and then blue fire wings. She had stopped screaming.
“Thanks!” She told him with a smile. She knew who it was, it was Marco.
“No problem, but how did you fall from the sky, yoi?” Marco asked.
“Um, I don’t know. I touched an old antique and found myself falling from the sky,” Ann told him with a chuckle. He hummed. They then landed on the ship and Ann got off his back. Everyone looked at her. She had on a fairly revealing outfit. She had on an orange bikini bra and black short shorts with a belt that held her knife. She also had on her orange hat and black low-cut boots. She had long flowing black hair that went to her waist. She had soft freckles almost everywhere, with warm gray eyes.
Ann looked at the crew. It was her crew but they didn’t seem to know her. “Hello,” a voice said. She looked over at a big old man sitting in a large seat connected to medical supplies. It was Pops. “May I ask how you ended up falling from the sky?” He asked.
She walked closer to him but stopped a good few feet in front of him. “Oh, hey Pops, and I’m not sure. I just touched an old antique and found myself falling from the sky,” she told him with a smile.
“What crew are you a part of and what’s your name?” He asked her. She raised an eyebrow.
“Portages D. Ann and I'm a part of your crew. Do you not recognize me Pops?” she told him, her heart pounding in her chest. Newgate looked at her. He didn’t recognize her but she looked very similar to one of his sons and even had the same last name, Portages D. Ace.
“I don’t remember anyone named Ann as a part of my family. Can you prove that you are,” He told her. She looked at him sadly. She grabbed her hair and moved it over her shoulder and turned around and showed him her back. There it was, the mark of his crew. A guy that looked like her walked up to her, looking at her.
“Are you related to Portgas D. Rouge?” He asked her in a quiet voice.
“Um, yes, and may I ask who you are?” She asked him.
“I’m Portage D. Ace,” he told her. Her eyes widened. She looked around at the crew who gave her a strange look. She looked for Thatch, wanting to see if he’d help her but his face was like everyone else. Confused. “I don’t remember having a sister, mind explaining,” Ace told her. She looked up at him.
“Um, I honestly don’t know how to explain this but it probably has to do with the antique I touched, 'cause I don’t remember having a blooded brother,” Ann told him.
“Do you happen to remember what antique it was?” Newgate asked her.
“It was a scroll with some really old writing on it. I wasn’t able to read it,” she told him, looking back at him. “I probably should have listened to Marco and not have touched it. Oops.”
“So you were sent to another dimension, is what I’m getting from this,” Pops said.
“I guess so because that would probably explain all of this,” Ann said before looking back at Ace. “That means you're the guy version of me!” Ann said pointing back at him as she jumped back some.
“Huh!” Ace yelled along with everyone else. Pops just laughed. “There’s no way that you're me!” Ace told her.
“What?! What do you mean?!” Ann questioned him. Ace looked at everyone else to see if they agreed.
“She does look a lot like you,” Thatch told him. Everyone else nodded. The only difference would be the amount of freckles. Ann had them basically all over while Ace had them only on his cheeks.
“There’s still no way that she’s me,” Ace said stubbornly.
“I’m not you, I’m my own person you dumbass!” Ann told him.
“I know that! That’s not what I meant!” Ace yelled back at her. The two stared angrily at each other.
“You two stop yoi,” Marco told them. The two crossed their arms and huffed, turning away from each other. Pops chuckled at the two. “Ann, do you know how to get back, yoi?” Marco asked the girl. Ann put a finger to her chin to think. She did remember something that one of the crew mates was talking about.
“I think I do, but my brain is totally blank right now,” she told him. Her stomach then growled. Ace looked back at her.
“I’m taking it you're hungry,” Thatch told her. She nodded with a sheepish grin.
“Yeah, I’m starving,” she told him. They sorta wondered if she ate like Ace, who stuffs his face with food. Thatch went to the kitchen to make her something for a snack. When she ate, she had no manners and ate like Ace did. Scarfed everything down. She was a big eater but she did end up passing out not long after. Either she was tired or she suffered from the same thing Ace did. Everyone had gone back to their own thing while Ann was asleep on the deck. Ace, Marco, and Thatch were talking with Pops.
“What are we going to do with her?” Ace asked him, pointing back to Ann.
“She’s going to stay till we figure out how to get her back,” He told him. Ace sighed.
“It’ll be fine Ace. Maybe you can find out more about your girl version while she’s here yoi,” Marco told him. Thatch nodded.
“Why would I want to do that?” Ace asked him.
“It would be better if you guys didn’t fight every time you talk, plus you guys can see if you guys have anything in common,” Pops told him. “She does seem to have narcolepsy just like you.” Ace looked back at Ann. She was out cold and snoring quietly, spread out on the deck. They were just going to let the attack happen instead of waking her up. She’d wake up in a little bit anyway.
“Besides being like you she seems to be different than you as well,” Thatch told him as he glanced at the girl.
“Just because we share that doesn’t mean we share anything else,” Ace told him. The three older men raised an eyebrow at him. “What?” He asked.
Pops hummed before questioning, “Really? You don’t think you share any interest as she does?” He nodded. Ann then sat up with a groan and rubbed her head with a yawn. They looked at her.
“Nice nap, yoi?” Marco asked her.
“I fell asleep didn’t I?” She asked. The four nodded. She just sighed and stood up before asking, “How long was I out?”
“Around fifteen minutes,” Ace told her. She hummed. Thatch nudged Ace's arm. Ace sighed. “I hate you,” Ace muttered as he walked up to Ann. Thatch only chuckled lightly.
Ann then suddenly asked, “Hey Ace, what’s Luffy like here? Is he still a dumbass crybaby?” He was not expecting her to ask that.
“Yeah, same as always I see,” Ace told her.
“Yep. He’s always doing something stupid and reckless,” Ann told him with a laugh. Ace nodded. He guessed he could try and get along with her. He wondered if Sabo was alive in her world, but he didn't think it was the right thing to ask but she asked first, “What about Sabo?”
He looked at her surprised but said sadly, “Um, he’s dead.”
“Yeah, he’s dead in my world too,” she told him. He could hear the pain in her voice. “Was Gramps forcing you to be a marine and hit you if you brought up about being a pirate?”
“Um yeah, but Luffy always brought it up,” Ace told her. She nodded. “Did you try to kill pops?” She nodded.
“Always failed though. I’m guessing the same for you since you joined,” Ann told him. He nodded. The three behind them snickered. It’s funny that the two are so alike and basically grew up basically the same.
“Isn’t your crew going to be worried about you since you disappeared?” Ace asked her.
“Yeah, they're probably trying to figure out how to get me back. I’m totally going to get it when I get back,” she said somewhat down. “Pops is probably going to hug me saying he’s glad I’m back then yell at me, then Marco is going to chew my head off for not listening to him.” She would also add that Thatch wouldn’t leave her side and would be more protective than usual but different world. The Thatch here doesn’t even know her. She glanced over Ace’s shoulder to look at the cook. He looked the same as hers but the love that was usually held in his eyes are not there. She couldn’t help but frown some.
Ace nodded with a chuckle, “That sounds about right.” The other three nodded. That sounds like them.
“Now that I think about it, where will I sleep for the time being?” Ann asked. They looked at Newgate. “Cause I don't want to sleep on the deck.”
“How about she rooms with Ace,” Izo said as he walked onto the front deck.
“I don’t really care,” Ann said.
“Why with me and not in an extra bed?” Ace questioned. All but Ann just looked at that clueless fire user.
“You do release that this crew is full of men right and most of the women aboard are nurses,” Izo told him. It then hit the two and they cringed in disgust.
Ann weighing her options, “Yeah, I’ll room with Ace.”
“She can room with me,” Ace said right after her. He didn’t not like the idea of them touching his girl self at all. It made him very uncomfortable and since she’s basically him he wouldn’t pull any moves on her since that would be like attacking yourself and that’s just gross. Marco and Pops laugh. “Wait, if Pops doesn’t really let girls on the ship besides mostly for nurses how did you join?” Ace asked her. Knowing that question caught all of their attention. Pops didn’t let women join his crew to fight, only for nurses. Only a few actually fought.
“Yeah, pops doesn’t allow women to fight aboard his ship,” Izo told her. Ann twiddled her thumbs nervously.
“Um, I don’t know,” she told them, which they could tell was a lie.
“I myself would like to know the reason,” Pops told her. She looked at him and smiled shyly. There was a reason and she didn’t want to say it. Well, there were two reasons and she didn’t want to say either, one more of why he let her join and the other on why he wouldn’t kick her out, and now he wouldn’t kick her out because of some of his sons.
“Are they personal reasons?” Thatch asked her.
“Um, I guess, sorta,” Ann said. They waited for her to continue but she didn’t. She wasn’t going to tell them and she was being very stubborn about it. “Even if I was allowed on the crew as a fighter it doesn't matter anymore cause Pops loves me just as much as he loves his sons,” she told them and crossed her arms with a small huff. She was still avoiding the question.
“Why are you avoiding the question, yoi?” Marco asked her. Ann tensed some. It was always hard for her to say no or really shrug Marco off, even if he was in a different universe. He can be so persistent, and the look he gives when he wants an answer kinda scares her. Thatch was nicer when he really wants an answer from her. It is usually food related. He knows it's her weakness.
“Because it’s none of your guy's business,” she told him. She didn’t want to be rude but they weren’t dropping it anytime soon. She really wished she was with her crew and her Thatch but she wasn’t. “All you need to know is that Pops had his reasons why he let me stay aboard and join, and those reasons are none of your guy's business.” She was right. It was honestly none of their business what the Pops from her world thought when letting her aboard and joining the crew but they were still curious. She then walked off holding her arms. She had run off not wanting to talk about it. They had looked for her but they couldn’t find her anywhere.
When night came around there was a knock on Ace’s door. He got up and opened it. He saw Ann. “Where have you been? We looked everywhere for you,” Ace told her.
“That isn’t important,” she told him as she walked past him and sat on the bed. Ace closed the door and looked at her.
“Why did you avoid our question?” Ace asked her.
Ann sighed. She patted the spot beside her, motioning him to sit down. He sits down. “Fine, I’ll tell you,” she told him. He just nodded. “Pops kept me aboard because of who my dad was. He didn’t want me to go to waste so he kept me. He felt that since I held what was left of Roger. He didn’t want me to be on my own. Of course, he didn’t let me fight for a while but after a lot of not following directions and helping protect everyone, he let me fight, and then again I sorta didn’t want to leave. Everyone was so nice and they treated me like I was family. It felt nice,” She told him. “I didn’t want to tell anyone 'cause it might have sounded like he pitted me or something.”
Ace looked at her before looking at his lap. “Being honest, that sounds better than everything the others thought,” he told her.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“They thought some really inappropriate shit, others thought that Pops saw something in you, which led to him keeping you aboard, but most were bad things,” Ace told her. Ann's face was scrunched up in disguise.
“I think I have a few ideas of what they are and just no,” she said in complete disgust. Ace nodded. “Well I’m tired,” she told him, letting out a yawn. Ace yawns too. Ace let Ann sleep on the bed and he slept on a makeshift bed on the floor.
