“Cass?” Nesta asked, her voice husky with exhaustion.
Cassian’s heart fluttered to hear that nickname on her lips.
“I’m here, Nes,” he replied.
She reached out a thin hand, and he took it, cradling it as if it were the most precious thing in the world.
“Will you -” she hesitated, her blue-grey eyes huge in her pale face.
“Anything,” he promised, bringing her hand up to his mouth and kissing it tenderly. “Whatever you need.”
“Will you stay?” she asked. “Just for tonight.”
“I’ll stay as long as you want,” Cassian replied
