Chapter 1: A lead

Chapter Text

Volo was in town for some new supplies before heading back to the ruins he was inspecting when someone slammed him into the next ally and right against a wall.

The person loomed over him like a melevilant shadow, in the dim light of the alley his eyes seemed to glow.

"I am Emmet, I am searching for my brother and you will help me", he said with an uneasy almost cartoonish grin on his face.

What a way to ask for help.
Volo grinned when he recognized the face, just the same as the man who had fallen into the Hisui region 400 years ago because of him.

Warden Ingo's brother,
apparently driven half mad by the loss.

"Why do you think I could help?"
"The people here say you research Jirachi, I need it."
"Well, they're wrong. I'm studying Arcius itself but I can still help, for a price…"
"You will help me and I won't harm you", Emmet threatened.
"That's not good enough", Volo chimed.

As if he'd care about bodily harm-
His thought was interrupted by Emmet slapping him across the face.
Volo gasped in pain before he started to laugh, he leaned back against the wall and stared right into his opponents eyes.

"You hit like a little girl, lucky for you I like to help kids", Volo laughed.

Emmet's eye twitched in frustration but he did let go of Volo.

"I'm Volo by the way"

Emmet nodded curtly.

"We should gather more supplies if you wanna join me in the ruins, it's my best lead yet and with your help I'm sure we'll meet Arceus", Volo beamed.

Emmet might be useful to him.

Emmet was desperate.
He had been on and off the road going anywhere that might have a clue as to Jirachi's location for half a year now.

He had let his anger and despair over Ingo's disappearance rule his life and it had led him to Johto to a small town not far from supposedly ancient ruins.

He had been going around town, asking about them when he heard of a blond man that looked oddly like the Sinnoh champion Cynthia that had been camping in and researching the ruins in question.

He would get this man to cooperate.
He had to.
For Ingo.

It didn't take long for Volo to convince Emmet of literally finding god.
He was willing to do anything to find his lost brother; the god of creation could give him back Emmet was now convinced of it.

Not that Arceus couldn't but that wasn't why Volo was searching for it.
He would fulfill his old dream of creating a better world and if he has to hold Arceus hostage with its own power.
