    Summary

Obi-Wan was born a Vizsla and named a Kenobi. When he uses the Force to save his older brother, Pre, he incurs his mother's wrath. Obi-Wan is rescued by the Jedi at age nine. Determined to earn his place at Master Dooku's side, Obi-Wan has no intention of ever returning to Mandalore —until he meets Cody Mereel years later. Will Obi-Wan follow his heart or the Force? And must the two truly be in conflict? Major AU.

Obi-Wan's birth year has been changed, very slow burn, covers from Obi-Wan joining the Order to the rise of the Sith.

Cody is reborn into this universe from the canon-verse, and he gets to be thirteen and have a buir of his own. Lots of healing.

[Obi-Wan let out a long breath and said in perfect Basic, "No, I am not afraid. In four years I will belong to myself and I already have the skills to make my way in the galaxy."

"Abandon you so, we would not," Master Yoda said. "But train you, in the ways of the Force, you would not be."

Dooku was annoyed by that, as he thought it had already been agreed that Obi-Wan would stay.

The child shrugged at the Grandmaster of the Order, "The Force is a part of all things, including me. The Jedi don't own the Force and you are not the only ones in the galaxy who teach its ways."

    From the mouths of babes.

Yoda was silent to that and it was all Dooku could do not laugh aloud.

Mace shot Dooku a glare before addressing Obi-Wan, "And where would you go, young Kenobi if you were separated from Master Dooku?"

That was a pointless question, Dooku had not been bluffing about leaving the Order. He had been contemplating doing so for years now.

But Obi-Wan's answer was priceless and Dooku would forever cherish the High Council's reaction to it.

"I would go to Jedha, the Temple there always accept acolytes, and I have nothing to surrender which is the only prerequisite aside from a willingness to learn."

    Dooku caught Mace's exasperated gaze.

Qui-Gon, Dooku's second Padawan, had —upon being Knighted— taken a three year retreat to Jedha where he studied the Living Force and the philosophies preached by the monks of Jedha.

Dooku had never faulted Qui-Gon for the rift between them, nor had he faulted Qui-Gon's desire to educate himself about the Living Force which was not Dooku's speciality. He was in all honesty quite proud of Qui-Gon.

Though Obi-Wan would be wasted on Jedha; the child had a warrior's heart and an innate connection to the Cosmic Force.

But the last thing the High Council wanted was another Qui-Gon and Rael, or any Padawan being trained by Dooku, if Ki-Adi Mundi who finished his training with Yoda after his first Master died had anything to say on the matter.

But Yoda was a troll and Mace liked chaos more than he would ever admit to.

"A Jedi, Kenobi shall be," Yoda said, garnering more astonished looks from the rest of the Council.

Aside from Mace, who had already realized the inevitable, likely from the moment Dooku had introduced him as a Padawan.]

["Shut up," Jaster snapped and recited the main part of their Code, "Strength is life, for the strong have the right to rule. Honor is life, for with no honor one may as well be dead. Loyalty is life, for without one's clan one has no purpose. Death is life, one should die as they have lived."

Something like mirth crossed Cody's expression and it was too much like Jango's express of mischief that Jaster just knew that he wasn't going to like whatever the adiik said next.

"Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Ka'ra," Cody recited back at him.

It was not the same, not at all, to Jaster's Codex which he had baced of the old Canons of Honor.

    But there were similarities.

"What is that from?" Mij asked.

"It's the Jetii Code," Cody said, smugly.

    Silas cursed under his breath

Jaster grimaced, he didn't hate the Jetiiese, but he was wary of them and historically speaking, the Jetiiese caused problems for the Mandalorians.

However, Jaster taught his clan and anyone who would listen to avoid them like the plague.

The Watch still did Jetii huntings, among them, to kill a Jetii could advance their status or count as their coming of age event.

This was sucidal, especially if one hunted the Padawans, the Jetii ade, because not only would the Master come down on you like hellfire, but the normally solitary nomadic warriors would close ranks and preform raids like they did in times long past.

The Watch doing this put all Mandalorians at risk.

Mij sighed, "So you are Ka'ra kissed."

Cody tilted his head again and lowered the weapon but didn't give it back to Mij, "I've never heard of being star-kissed. I'm not really a Force sensitive."

Jaster sighed, "Force sensitives, like the Jetiiese, are Ka'ra touched. To be star-kissed is to be reborn by fate. You don't know who we are. You don't remember us at all, do you, ner adiik?"

    "No," Cody answered.

"And you are not Jango Fett," Silas stated.

"No," Cody said with palpable bitterness. "I am not Jango Fett, my name is Cody."

"Cody," Mij said ith deceptive lightness. "You need to get back in bed."]

["He told me that as his adiik that I was his greatest weakness."

Jaster squeezed his shoulder, holding his gaze as he continued, "And that I was also his greatest strength."]

wasn't Jango who looked at him, his brown eye had too much gold in and Jaster began to worry the Ka'ra had reached down her hand and touched his adiik.

It was known to happen in legends, in times of great strife children were born star-touched and those on the brink of death were kissed by the stars.

Sometimes, the star-touched were driven mad.

Sometimes, they took their own lives.

And sometimes, they woke up other than they had been.

Ka'ra, please, Jaster begged silently, admitting to himself that maybe Mij had been right, Jango had passed on.

Whoever looked down at him now was someone else.

Jaster smiled, and moving deliberately, he placed a gentle hand on the back of Cody's neck and brought their foreheads together in a keldabe kiss, "Ni kyr'tayl gai sa'ad, Cody."

I know your name as my child.

Cody did not mean to cry and he didn't know how much it would matter to him that Jaster held him through pain.

    The war was over.

And Cody had lost everything and everyone he ever cared for.

    The war was undone.

And still, he had lost everyone who had ever known him.

But he was himself, he was a freeman, and he was not alone.
