Work Text:

“I’ll be okay,” he whispered, staring into her stormy blue eyes. They were glistening in the light, gleaming with unshed tears as she held him. “Everything will be okay.”

Ahsoka shook her head, furiously wiping her face.

“Don’t do this, Master!”

Anakin wrapped her in a tight embrace, resting his chin between her montrals. Force, when had she gotten so big?

“It’s the only way, Ahsoka,” he murmured softly.

“No!” She cried , clasping his robes so tightly he worried she would hurt herself by accident.

He pulled back just enough so that he could see her face.

“Everything will be okay.”

“Don’t lie to me!” She wailed, smacking him lightly even as she embraced him as tightly as she could. “If you do this, nothing will ever be alright ever again!”

“Ahsoka,” he said with a sigh. He gazed at her with a love strong enough to upend the universe, memorizing every feature of her face.

Please . You can’t do this. Don’t leave me.”

“If I don’t do this, everyone on this station will die,” he reminded her, gently. Ahsoka whimpered, sniffling into his robes.

“I can’t let that happen. I love you - all of you - far too much to let that happen. And you, Ahsoka - I’m so, so proud of you. I’ve always loved you and I need you to know that not once did I regret meeting you or taking you on. You’re one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.” He stepped away slightly, keeping her at arm’s reach.

“You’re my little sister, Snips. I love you.”

“I- I love you, too-“ Ahsoka whimpered.

“It’s gonna be okay. In time, I promise you, it will be alright.”

With that, he mustered all his strength and set upon her a sleep suggestion, which she quickly succumbed to.

Turning towards his fate, he could only pray that what he said would hold true - that, in time, she would heal, recover, and move on.

He would always love her, even in death.
