A Bouquet of Forget-me-Nots and a Daffodil too

Summary:

He forgets everything, and Katsuki isn't sure how to feel about it. How he does not hear the familiar footsteps that have always followed him since before he can remeber. To look behind him and not see the familiar image of a determined green-haired boy trying his best to keep up...

Izuku feels bad that he can't remember, but even if he can't remember he can't help but feel such wonder when he looks at the angry blond boy who seems to have a chip on his shoulder...

Chapter Text

Katsuki walked down the sidewalk heading to school taking in the cool morning air, he was actually pretty relaxed for once.

“H-hello Kacchan.” A timid voice greeted, and a scowl flashed across the once neutral face of the blond as he tsked in annoyance, his once relaxed stance tensed up.

His red eyes glanced to see a nervous green-haired boy looking at the ground. “What, now you're stalking me Deku?” He growled out as the boy flinched and began to flail his arms.

“W-what!? No! I- it just- Ah…I just like walking this early to school because it is peaceful you know?” Izuku finished as he rubbed the back of his head.

Katsuki narrowed his eyes and continued to walk with a scoff, “Whatever.”

It was only a few moments pause before the blond heard hurried, familiar,  footsteps following him, always, always following him.

Soon the two boys were walking side by side much to Katsuki’s annoyance. The silence between them is heavy and awkward…like it has been for years….

They stopped at the crosswalk as they waited for the light to turn green. Katsuki could feel Izuku getting more and more fidgety it was only a matter of time before-

“S-So Kacchan, did you see All Might take down that villain with the cat quirk? You know the villain who had robbed a few jewelry stores.”

Katsuki tried to tune out the green-haired boy as he continued to mumble, did he see the All Might fight? Of course, he did! Who did Deku think he was? His anger seemed to rise with every word Izuku spoke before he snarled and explosions started to spark in his palms.

“Shut Up! I don’t care what you think that extra could do with their quirk if they used it for heroics!” Katsuki barked his red eyes glaring heatedly at Izuku as he started to cross the road now that the light was green.

He saw Izuku's mouth shut tight and curl into himself when he started to yell. He scoffed at the weakness and continued to chew the boy out as Izuku started to follow him across the road.

Izuku was not looking at him and looking everywhere else but at him. Katsuki saw the moment Izuku’s green eyes widened, and the little bit of color he had drained from him before he was running at Katsuki.

The blond wouldn’t admit it but was taken aback at the sudden change in the boy. So much so, that Izuku was actually able to push the blond away and down onto the sidewalk that they were close to.

Katsuki opened his eyes with a snarl, ready to tear into the boy for daring to push him, but his breath caught his throat when he saw Izuku smile at him…

Katsuki watched on in horror as Izuku’s body smacked hard onto the pavement and a car continued on down the road, not even braking once.

“Hey...Hey! Get up!” Bakugou stood on shaky legs as he got up, his heart pounding in his ears. He shuffled over to the still green-haired boy.

“I said get up ya, fucker! I didn’t ask for you to push me out of the way! Damn it Deku!” He yelled as he looked over the unconscious boy, blood starting to pool under his head.

Katsuki could feel his palms start to sweat more from the stress and feel the heat building up wanting to be released. Before the boy could worry rage more, paramedics were pulling him away so they could look at Izuku. He watched on not blinking as they took vitals and tried to get a response, soon they were loading him into the ambulance.

Before they closed the doors Katsuki rushed over to them grabbing an overstuffed yellow backpack on the way. Slipping in before they could stop him, he glared and snarled at the man who said he couldn’t come.

“Huh? The Hell I can’t come! Someone has to let his mom know what’s happening, and the idiot is only like that because he tried to play hero when he had no fucking right to!”

The paramedics relented and they rushed off to the nearest hospital.

Soon the blonde was waiting by himself in a waiting room, his leg bouncing from nerves as he kept eyeing the entrance of the hospital.

Soon the door opened to reveal three people, the shortest of the group was at the receptionist's desk so quickly one might think she teleported.

“Where is he? Where is my Izuku, is he okay?” The woman cried as she was slightly pulled back by Bakugou’s father so she wasn’t leaning over the desk like before.

The woman at the desk didn’t seem bothered by it as she smiled calmly and kindly at the worried mother as she started to click away at her computer, “It seems that young Midoriya is in surgery right now, but as soon as something changes you will be informed. You may wait here if you wish.”

Inko sobbed as she seemed to waver on her feet, Mistkui grabbed her friend by the hand and helped guide her to a chair near him.

As soon as he was in grabbing distance Inko wrapped herself around Katsuki as she sobbed into his shoulder.

“Are you okay brat? The other witness gave the police the bastard’s license number.”

Katsuki looked up to his mother whose eyes were similar to his own, “I’m fine De- I mean, Izuku pushed me out of the way…I don’t know why the idiot would though..” He whispered the last part.

But the woman in his arms gripped him tighter as she pulled away from him and looked him over.

“Katsuki, I know that you and Izuku’s relationship is a little on the…strained side…” Katsuki stiffened at the admission, “I don’t know what has happened between you two for you to drift away as you have, but Katsuki.”

Inko cupped the blond’s cheeks with both hands making him meet her eyes. “Izuku has always held you in such high regard, even now he often talks of how amazing you are, and how far you’ve come.”

Inko was interrupted from saying more by a nurse who had come to fetch her.

Katsuki stared at nothing, as he thought of what Inko had told him, confused and conflicted because Deku was obviously mocking him somehow, or making fun of him somehow…right? Dread filled his gut as he started to doubt what he thought all these years.…

Katsuki’s thoughts started to run wild, and his breaths came in gasps as he thought of all the interactions between him and Izuku until now. Black spots started to prick in his vision but were pulled from his spiraling thoughts when he was embraced. He took a shuddering breath and looked to see his dad was holding him, and his mother’s hand on his back rubbing soothing circles trying to help.

“It’ll be okay, Izuku’s made of strong stuff. Something like this isn’t going to keep him down long..” Mitsuki comforted.

He relaxed into the warm feeling, she was right, if anything was for sure. It’s that Deku didn’t know how to give up….
