Ranboo has been busy working on the perfect gift for Tubbo. A pair of obsidian wedding rings.

Valentines day Prompt: Love Language

Work Text:

Ranboo has been busy. He was making the perfect gift for Tubbo, a set of wedding rings. The two had talked about getting married in the past, and even referred to the other as their spouse. The only thing they were missing were rings to show their commitment to one another (and paperwork making it official in the eyes of the law, but who cares about the law?). Both he and Tubbo frequently used their hands, which would make wearing a ring uncomfortable. In the end he settled on designing rings that would fit on their horns instead. If made just right, they won't easily slip off. He already had all the measurements he needed (if asked how Ranboo would change the subject) and had drawn out the plans. Currently he was in the middle of the hardest part. You see, Ranboo wanted to make the rings out of obsidian, and as strong as obsidian is made out to be, it's actually quite fragile. A single crack in the wrong spot and the ring is busted.

It took Ranboo far longer to finish the rings than he would have liked. He spent a good few hours searching for the perfect chunk of obsidian, a piece large enough to make multiple rings with, and stable enough to withstand the carving and smoothing that would need to be done. He broke more of the rings than he would like to admit, but in the end they turned out perfect. They were very smooth, and were even a little shiny, and Ranboo has never been prouder of anything in his life. He slid the small obsidian pieces into a small, cushioned box for safe keeping, and left his vault for bed. It was already late, and he needed some time to plan the next day, provided Tubbo was available of course.

Tubbo woke with the sun, stretching his aching limbs before climbing out of bed. He didn’t really have a reason to be up as early as he was, but habits are hard to break, so up he gets to rifle through his storage for breakfast. An apple in hand he tugs on his boots and shrugs on his coat, before heading out for his morning walk.

He had just arrived back home when his communicator dinged. Shrugging his coat off he closed the door and checked to see who was messaging him, and was pleasantly surprised to see it was from The Beloved himself, Ranboo.

Ranboo: Hey Bee, you got any plans today?

Tubbo smiled softly, typing a response.

Tubbo_: Not really Boo, whats up?

Ranboo: I was wanting to hang out today, you game?

Tubbo_: sure bosman, when wil you get here?

Ranboo: So, funny story. I’m already there?

Tubbo burst out laughing when he heard a knock on his door, and went and opened the door to Ranboo looking mildly embarrassed and shuffling his feet, hands behind his back. Tubbo ushered him into the house, still trying to quell his laughter, and slapped Ranboo’s arm a few times, perhaps a little too hard based on the small wince that graced his features.

“It’s good to see you too Tubbo.” Ranboo said with a smile, a few giggles of his own escaping. “I’ve actually got something pretty important for you, so uh, if you could just follow me for a little?” Ranboo asked nervously, his tail swaying slowly behind him as he held a hand out for Tubbo to grab.

“Lead the way bossman” Tubbo replied with a cheeky smile, slotting his hand into Ranboos. After He put his coat back on Ranboo lead him a little ways away from Snowchester to a small flower field he hadn’t noticed before. After a closer look he realized that most of the flowers were pink tulips, Tubbo’s favorite, and all were freshly planted. He looked up to Ranboo in disbelief, a large smile growing on his face as he was led to the center and sat upon a blanket. It was quite nice, with a slight breeze, and he could even see a few bees buzzing nearby.

“I have a gift for you.” Ranboo said after a few minutes of silence, turning with a smile and pulling a small box from his pocket. Before Tubbo could speak the box was carefully placed in his hand. “I just want you to know that if you don’t have to accept this gift. You can say no, I’ll understand.”

Intrigued, Tubbo lifted the lid from the box and gasped. Rings. Gorgeous rings made from obsidian and obviously crafted with such love and care that he knew must have taken hours upon hours to perfect them. He looked up to Ranboo, who had a slight blush on his face as he nervously fidgeted, watching quietly. Looking back down to the rings he slowly touched them. “Yes.” He murmured quietly. “I love them, and I would love nothing more than for you to put it on for me” He said louder this time, a beaming smile on his face as he held the box out for Ranboo.

Ranboo smiled wide and took the box back, grabbing the larger ring from the box and carefully slipping it onto Tubbo’s horn. Following his lead, Tubbo reached into the box and grabbed the smaller one, and carefully slipped it onto Ranboo’s horn in turn. The two just smiled at each other, no words were needed as they both knew just what the other was Thinking. Ranboo opened his arms wide, and Tubbo threw himself onto Ranboo, small giggles from the two filling the air.

Today is going to be an amazing day.
