“I don’t want this,” He whispered, the ache in his throat growing. “I don’t want to die.”
There was no answer for a while. The wind buzzed around the brunette and the leaves of the trees rustled gently as if contemplating the words he’d been holding in for so long.
“Very well then, trade one reality for another as there will never be another way,” Ymir voiced, “Grant yourself a second chance. Can you fix the mistakes of the past? Can you drape yourself in the justice you so desire? Can you reach a conclusion where you shan’t have the need to feel this regret?”
The air stilled, “Change is inevitable. But remember this for both your sake and mine.”
Without noticing how, blood trickled down from the side of his other palm, a cut that appeared with no warning began to paint a thin river of red.
“This world is cruel…”
Thunder struck, earth-shattering and tremendous.
“...and will remain cruel.”
