Chapter Text

The first thing that Kim Dokja registered as he woke up was the plush blankets and pillows that surrounded him on all sides. He sat up and looked around the dark room. The curtains were pulled back so only a sliver of light peeked through. This place was definitely not his shoddy apartment building.

This comfy mattress was nothing like the hard rock he called a bed. Kim Dokja poked the bedsheets and then his cheek. Was this a dream? He pinched himself for good measure. The result was the same. He was most definitely awake.

Kim Dokja stood up, ignored the vertigo from getting up too suddenly, and slowly walked around the room. It was evident that whoever owned this place was quite wealthy. There were lavish decorations and marble pillars holding busts of...Kim Dokja squinted at the bust. His eyes widened as he recognized the subject of the marble.

It was Demon King Yoo Joonghyuk, the main antagonist of The Hero of the Lake Kingdom . The circular, ram-like horns on the demon’s head were emblazoned as the advertisement for the webnovel that Kim Dokja often read on his way to work.

Kim Dokja whipped his head around and saw an enormous portrait hung above the fireplace. It was the demon king standing next to...Kim Dokja?!

He couldn’t believe his eyes. The portrait was him, dressed in fancy regal clothing that Kim Dokja knew his measly office worker salary could never afford. He gazed up at the picture in wonder. The two people in the portrait looked happy together. They were holding hands and fondly smiled at each other.

Kim Dokja shook his head. This was no time to be day dreaming. He needed to figure out what point of the novel he transmigrated to. He opened the random cabinets and drawers, looking for anything that could be used as a calendar. Nothing turned up.

Kim Dokja walked into what he presumed was the bathroom, but it was more like a spa from the hot water flowing from a spout and the steam blowing past him wherever he walked. He passed by a mirror and finally saw his reflection. There were two small, curved horns coming from the front of his head and he saw that he now had a set of sharp fangs. Now that he was more conscious, he could feel something swaying on his lower back. Kim Dokja saw the leathery black tail hanging from his back, curling up around his thigh.

Kim Dokja rubbed his temples. He was beginning to feel faint from all this—

KNOCK KNOCK!!

Startled, Kim Dokja almost slipped on the granite tiles of the bathroom. He ran back to the bedroom and ducked under the sheets. He wheezed, out of breath from the mild sprint. Kim Dokja tried to get his breathing under control, but a series of coughs escaped him. The knocking on the door stopped and the sound of the door clicking open came next.

A tall figure in a dark uniform stormed to Kim Dokja’s side on the mattress. Kim Dokja bit his lip, refusing to let any sounds of despair escape him.

“My queen.” A warm hand patted his head. “Are you awake?”

Did he just say ‘Queen’?

“My queen, it’s not proper to sleep in so late.”

Kim Dokja was going to pretend to be asleep for a bit longer, but a sudden fit of coughs escaped his chest. The person next to him quickly removed the blankets covering his face. Kim Dokja’s eyes widened as he saw who was next to him.

It was the same figure as the bust he saw earlier. The webnovel’s demon king Yoo Joonghyuk. There was no mistaking the handsome visage and grand horns. Kim Dokja felt himself shiver under the demon king’s stare. Yoo Joonghyuk was portrayed as a chaotic tyrant who didn’t have any mercy for humans. Hopefully he wasn’t abusive or—

“Good morning my dearest Dokja.”

Dearest?!

“G-Good morning?” Kim Dokja managed to wheeze out.

Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes narrowed at the response. “I heard you coughing so I hurried over.”

“Oh uh…” Kim Dokja let out another cough. “Yeah that was me.”

Yoo Joonghyuk’s frown darkened. “A shame. The weather is lovely today. I was hoping we could walk in the garden together.”

“What?!” Kim Dokja exclaimed before entering another series of coughs. Yoo Joonghyuk hurriedly made Kim Dokja sit up and rubbed his back in a soothing manner. The comforting hand on his back stayed until the coughs subsided.

“Forget it. Just rest.”

Yoo Joonghyuk almost looked...disappointed. Kim Dokja couldn’t fathom why. The demon king fluffed the pillows around Kim Dokja before pressing a kiss to Kim Dokja’s forehead. “I’ll send for a doctor. Please don’t overexert yourself.”

Kim Dokja was thrown off by the gentleness of the demon king. “Okay...if you say so.”

Yoo Joonghyuk left the room and Kim Dokja could only press a hand on his forehead where the demon king kissed him.

That was the demon king that waged war with humanity for over a decade? The same demon who just fluffed his pillows and kissed him?

Was this gap moe?

Also, Kim Dokja was apparently the demon queen? There was never any mention of a demon queen in the webnovel...or was there? Times like these made Kim Dokja wish webnovels were updated faster. The last time he checked, the ending was never published.

The door to the room opened once again and a new demon entered. This demon had antler-like horns on top of long silky white hair. She walked over and Kim Dokja saw a scaly tail trailing behind.

“Healer Lee Seolhwa at your service. Queen Dokja, His Highness mentioned you were feeling unwell.” She pressed a hand against Kim Dokja’s forehead. A calming blue light emitted from her hand and Kim Dokja felt a soothing heat rush into him. The burning in his lungs gradually settled and he felt he could breathe easier.

“Thank you.” Kim Dokja said as the healer bowed.

“My pleasure, your Highness. May I undress you now?”

“W-What?!” Kim Dokja scrambled away and clutched the sheets towards him. “Why?”

Lee Seolhwa tilted her head, confused. “I meant no disrespect to you. I just need to listen to your heart. To make sure your condition hasn’t worsened.”

Condition? Kim Dokja had a condition?

He unbuttoned his shirt and Lee Seolhwa bent down, making sure her antlers didn’t hit Kim Dokja on the face. She closed her eyes and listened to Kim Dokja’s chest for a moment. Kim Dokja hoped she couldn’t hear how nervous he was.

“There’s a slight stutter to your heart,” Lee Seolhwa pursed her lips. “I’ll prescribe some medicine to ease that. Is there anything else I should know about?”

Kim Dokja shook his head, “No I think that’s it. Um, you’re dismissed.”

“Thank you. Please rest easy, Your Highness.” With a respectful bow, Lee Seolhwa left the room. Kim Dokja flopped down into the pillows and sighed. He rolled around, absorbing everything he just learned in the last hour.

He was in the demon world of his webnovel. Check.

He was the queen of the demon world. Check.

The king of the demon world was hot. Check.

He apparently had some sort of heart condition. Check.

Hmm...was it too late to call this a dream?

Kim Dokja dragged the sheets over his face. Hopefully when he woke up, he’d be in his apartment, probably late for work. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

A warm hand threaded through Kim Dokja’s hair. It was so warm—

Kim Dokja lived alone. Who the hell was here?

His eyes shot open and he instantly sat up, ready to defend himself from whoever broke into his home. When the confused eyes of the demon king stared back, Kim Dokja gasped and looked around.

He was still in the fancy royal bedroom. Guess it wasn’t a dream after all. Yoo Joonghyuk was lying next to him, his eyebrows furrowed.

“Did I awaken you Dokja? Is there something wrong?”

“N-No! Nothing at all.” Kim Dokja tried to calm his rapidly beating heart. Yoo Joonghyuk sat up and wrapped an arm around Kim Dokja, gently coaxing the other to lie back down. This didn’t help Kim Dokja’s heart rate.

“I took the day off,” Yoo Joonghyuk murmured, “I wish to spend time with you. You slept all of yesterday.”

“I did?!” Oops.

Yoo Joonghyuk frowned and flicked Kim Dokja on the head. “I’m taking you out today. That’s final.”

“Shouldn’t you be waging war against humans or something?” According to the webnovel at least.

“War? Against humans?” Yoo Joonghyuk snorted, “Why would I waste time associating with them?”

“You’re a demon king. Aren’t you into destruction and mayhem?”

Yoo Joonghyuk raised an eyebrow. “Is there a particular human you wish to see gone? You only need to say the word and I’ll—”

“No no no! I’d prefer you to uh, not go to war.”

“Then why bring it up?” Yoo Joonghyuk fondly cupped Kim Dokja’s cheek, his eyes gleaming with mirth. “Are you sure there’s nothing you wish to see eradicated? You know I’d do anything for you.”

“No, I'm fine,” Kim Dokja blushed, he felt like he was being teased by this so-called demon king. “Please don’t do anything violent.”

Yoo Joonghyuk chuckled before lifting Kim Dokja into a princess carry. “Now that that’s settled, let’s go.”

Surprised, Kim Dokja linked his arms around Yoo Joonghyuk’s neck to prevent himself from falling. “Huh? Go where?”

“I told you we’re spending the day together.”

“Put me down.” Kim Dokja struggled in Yoo Joonghyuk’s arms and let out a cough. “I can walk!”

Yoo Joonghyuk kept a firm grip. “Let me carry you. You’ll exert yourself less this way.” He began to walk out of the room, cradling Kim Dokja close to his chest the entire time.

Kim Dokja’s eyes widened and he blushed. He did not just hear what he thought he heard. He squirmed in Yoo Joonghyuk’s arm, but the moment a hand squeezed his ass, he gasped and stopped moving. Yoo Joonghyuk smirked and Kim Dokja could only gape at the demon king.

“Did you just—”

A new voice popped out. “Greetings Your Majesty. Ah, the Queen is out today?”

Kim Dokja saw a lizard woman holding a broom in her hand. Judging from the uniform, they were probably a servant.

“Yes. We’ll be out in the garden. Prepare the queen’s favorite tea and snacks.”

The servant bowed and said, “Yes, Your Majesty,” before shuffling away.

As Yoo Joonghyuk continued to walk, Kim Dokja took the time to observe his new surroundings. The castle was made of mostly dark bricks and onyx, a theme most commonly found in demon castles. Portraits of past rulers lined the walls, along with occasional landscapes and random decorations. Many servants walked through the castle doing their daily tasks and only stopped to give the royals a brief greeting and wave. Kim Dokja waved back and made several servants smile with glee.

Almost every servant was surprised that Kim Dokja was out of his room. Was the queen a NEET or something? Maybe Yoo Joonghyuk was one of those possessive bastards that refused to let their significant other be seen by others.

Kim Dokja shivered. He really hoped that wasn’t the case.

“Are you cold?” Yoo Joonghyuk asked as they approached a huge iron door.

“No, I'm fine.” Kim Dokja crossed his arms. “I just felt a draft.”

“Should I fetch you a coat?”

Kim Dokja groaned. “Who knew you’d be such a worrier? I thought you were a tyrant.”

Yoo Joonghyuk’s lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinted with something dark. “Are you trying to tempt me with old memories, my Queen?”

What? What was the antagonist talking about?

Before Kim Dokja could dig deeper, Yoo Joonghyuk opened the door. Kim Dokja squinted under the harsh sunlight and used his hand to shield his eyes.

The sight outside amazed him.

There were flowers as far as Kim Dokja could see. Different types and different colors, scattered around the plaza-like area. A white gazebo was in the middle, where a table and two chairs were set up. Yoo Joonghyuk carried Kim Dokja to the gazebo and finally sat down on one of the chairs. He settled Kim Dokja on his lap and wrapped his arms around Kim Dokja’s waist.

“The flowers just bloomed. I wanted you to see them.”

Kim Dokja blinked and then gave the demon king a pat on the arm. “Wow, it’s really nice out here.”

Internally, Kim Dokja was having a hard time accepting that the demon king just brought him outside to see some flowers. He was expecting the demon king’s castle to be full of gloom and depression like the cartoons, but this place was the total opposite. The servants were happy and the king was kind. Was he really in the same novel?

“Dokja? You’re being too quiet.” Yoo Joonghyuk hugged Kim Dokja tighter. “Don’t tell me you’re feeling cold. Or are your symptoms acting up?”

“No, I’m fine!” Kim Dokja smiled at the demon king. “The view was breathtaking, I was left speechless for a bit.”

Yoo Joonghyuk pressed a kiss to Kim Dokja’s hair. “I made sure the garden was taken care of when you were bedridden. I brought in waters purified by spirits from the north and the gardeners are all trained to ensure that no rose grows out of place.”

“That's actually very sweet.”

The king went through so much to keep this garden alive for the queen. Kim Dokja felt a twinge of guilt for assuming Yoo Joonghyuk was going to kill him at first contact.

The image of Yoo Joonghyuk that Kim Dokja created from the webnovel was starting to break. Maybe the demon king wasn’t bad after all. Yoo Joonghyuk’s portrayal in the webnovel was so different from what Kim Dokja experienced.

Wait a minute.

Kim Dokja lightly slapped his cheeks. It’s only been two days since he arrived in this world. He can’t assume anything yet! Maybe Yoo Joonghyuk was trying to seduce him to lower his guard. The moment he turned his back, the real demon king was going to skewer him.

With his mind made up, Kim Dokja decided to continue his observation of the demon king and judge whether or not to trust them.

But for now, Kim Dokja was going to enjoy the tea and cookies that a servant just wheeled in. Yoo Joonghyuk surprised him by picking up a cookie and holding it to Kim Dokja’s mouth.

“Your favorite.” Yoo Joonghyuk pressed the cookie against Kim Dokja’s lips. Kim Dokja couldn’t help but blush again as he opened his mouth and nibbled on the cookie. It tasted amazing. He swallowed the rest of the cookie and moaned in delight. Kim Dokja licked his lips to make sure no crumbs remained. He failed to notice how Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes followed him the entire time.

Kim Dokja tugged on Yoo Joonghyuk’s sleeve. “There’s more of those cookies right?”

“Of course.” Yoo Joonghyuk picked up another one and held it to Kim Dokja’s lips.

“Perfect.”

The next day, Kim Dokja’s plan was in motion. It was time to see if Yoo Joonghyuk really was the tyrant from the webnovel.

As soon as he got up, Kim Dokja washed his face and wore an oversized cloak he found in the closet. He used the hood to cover his face and snuck out of the bedroom.

Keeping his head low, Kim Dokja wandered through the vast hallways of the castle, making sure not to attract any attention.

The servants ignored Kim Dokja as he peeked into several rooms, checking to make sure that none of them were secret torture chambers. To his disbelief, most of the rooms were normal sitting rooms or libraries. Kim Dokja kept a mental note for the library locations so he could return later.

Kim Dokja made his way towards the center of the castle. Crowds of demons gathered in the central room, blocking Kim Dokja’s sight. He wormed his way through the crowd, making sure the cloak’s hood remained on his face. When he made it to the middle, he saw Yoo Joonghyuk sitting on an obsidian throne, staring down at a kneeling demon.

“Do you have anything else to say in your defense?” Yoo Joonghyuk’s deep voice sent shivers down Kim Dokja’s spine. It was completely different from the voice that relaxed Kim Dokja yesterday.

He knew it! Yoo Joonghyuk was a fake, two-faced bastard!

“No, Your Highness. I don’t have anything else to add.” The kneeling demon responded regretfully.

“Very well.”

The demon king rose up from his throne and unsheathed a sword from a scabbard that was attached to a belt on his hip.

Was this an execution?!

Kim Dokja was about to yell at the king to stop, but Yoo Joonghyuk did something that made him speechless. The sword in Yoo Joonghyuk’s stabbed the ground and a red light began to emit from the ground. It encircled the demon and surrounded them. The light emerged from the ground and turned into a chain that attached itself to the demon’s neck before disappearing. When Kim Dokja squinted, he could see a red mark around the demon’s neck.

“You have been sentenced to 300 hours of community service. Educate demons in the lower realm. Dismissed.” Yoo Joonghyuk pulled his sword out of the ground and returned to his throne.

Community service?! What kind of demon king assigns community service? Shouldn’t they be sentenced to damnation or something? Kim Dokja couldn’t believe that just happened.

“Dokja.”

The sound of Yoo Joonghyuk’s voice silenced the room. Kim Dokja stilled and slowly turned to the throne. Yoo Joonghyuk stared directly at him, a frown on his lips. He gestured to Kim Dokja, his finger beckoning the queen forward.

The crowd parted around Kim Dokja, isolating him. The spotlight was on him. He nervously walked towards Yoo Joonghyuk, trying to make sure the cloak didn’t drag on the ground. Kim Dokja stopped in front of Yoo Joonghyuk, praying that the demon king wouldn’t kill him.

Instead, Yoo Joonghyuk simply pulled Kim Dokja to sit on his lap.

“Comfortable? I saw you standing there and thought you might be tired.” Yoo Joonghyuk kissed the back of Kim Dokja’s neck, “Rest and preside over the court with me.”

Great, now he was trapped in the handsome demon king’s arms.

While Yoo Joonghyuk summoned another denizen to come forth, Kim Dokja relaxed as much as he could. He didn’t want to show how nervous he was. The demon king must’ve noticed how tense Kim Dokja was and began to massage Kim Dokja's shoulders while listening to the pleas of the demon before him.

They presided over court for around three hours. The entire time, Yoo Joonghyuk either pardoned the petty crimes or subjected them to community service. The most “extreme” punishment doled out was reparations for accidentally destroying a nearby library. That punishment was actually Kim Dokja’s idea. The second he heard about someone burning down a library, he wanted blood.

Yoo Joonghyuk soothed him and promised that the library would be avenged.

Later at night, Yoo Joonghyuk held Kim Dokja carefully in his arms. Kim Dokja couldn’t have snuck out even if he wanted to.

“It’s been so long since we held court together,” mused Yoo Joonghyuk, “I’m glad you’re feeling better.”

“Y-Yeah! I had a great time.” A great time sitting and praying he wouldn’t get killed.

Yoo Joonghyuk rubbed small circles into Kim Dokja’s back. “Perhaps we can do it tomorrow as well.”

As if Kim Dokja could refuse. “Sure, why not.”

Over the course of the next few months, Kim Dokja kept a careful eye on the demon king, waiting for any instance of treachery, anything that could finally make Kim Dokja dislike him the way the web novel did.

What he found was that Yoo Joonghyuk was god damn near perfect. Kim Dokja witnessed the same thing that happened in the throne room over and over again. There was nothing evil about this demon king at all. Yoo Joonghyuk lowered taxes, practically eliminated poverty, and even established world peace.

Not even the modern world was this progressive. Kim Dokja was lucky to have transmigrated into a world like this.

While Kim Dokja continued to try and dig up dirt on Yoo Joonghyuk, he finally stumbled on a calendar.

He discovered that he transmigrated a year before the novel was set.

Could it be...Kim Dokja’s arrival in the webnovel has affected the events of the novel so much that the antagonist turned into an OOC mess?

After being unable to find anything wrong with Yoo Joonghyuk and the demon world, Kim Dokja decided he would just settle down and enjoy the world. Sure there were days he was totally bedridden with asthma and heart palpitations, but those were rare. Besides, he had Yoo Joonghyuk at his bedside, holding his hand and making sure he was comfortable.

Speaking of Yoo Joonghyuk…

The demon king was currently in bed with him, hugging Kim Dokja close as Kim Dokja was reading a novel. Yoo Joonghyuk was silent, peeking over Kim Dokja’s shoulder and trying to read alongside him. Every once in a while, Yoo Joonghyuk would press a kiss against his temple and Kim Dokja couldn’t help but feel loved.

Loved…

Loved?!

It was at that moment Kim Dokja knew he was fucked.

Thinking back to the beginning of his journey up until now, Kim Dokja realized his heart skipped a beat whenever Yoo Joonghyuk looked at him or said his name. It was a slow process, but now he was sure of his feelings. How could he resist such a person?

“Dokja?” Yoo Joonghyuk murmured, “Aren’t you going to turn the page?”

Kim Dokja fumbled with the book and hurriedly turned the page. He was no longer registering the words, he was too busy panicking about his newfound feelings. How was he going to—

Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand brushed his forehead. “Are you feeling alright? You’re getting warm.”

If Kim Dokja’s heart condition wasn’t going to kill him, then his embarrassment will.

“I’m t-totally fine!” He was not. “Maybe we should just sleep for the rest of the night?”

The pout on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face tugged on Kim Dokja’s heartstrings.

“If that’s what you wish,” Yoo Joonghyuk took the book from Kim Dokja’s hands and placed it on the bedside table. He turned off the oil lamp and laid down next to Kim Dokja. “Now sleep.”

“You can still do stuff if you want. It’s still early.”

“I am. I’m spending time with my dearest one.”

Kim Dokja’s heart swelled once more, the redness permeating down to his chest. “Stupid demon king...No wonder I love you.”

Kim Dokja slapped a hand over his mouth. He didn’t mean to blurt that out. He kept his gaze low, scared of Yoo Joonghyuk’s reaction. Damn, was his cover going to be blown?

Yoo Joonghyuk simply grabbed Kim Dokja’s hand and kissed the back. “Yes, I love you too Dokja.” The demon king chuckled, “It’s been a while since you’ve said it.”

A surge of happiness ran through Kim Dokja. His feelings were returned after all. He pressed a kiss to Yoo Joonghyuk’s lips and then quickly buried himself in the fur blanket. “Okay goodnight.”

He was done being embarrassed for the day.

The blanket was quickly pulled off, Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes alight with mischief. “You thought you could just get away that easily? My dear queen, not even you can escape.”

Yoo Joonghyuk dipped his head down to kiss Kim Dokja, sucking on the bottom lip until it turned cherry red. Kim Dokja let a moan slip by and Yoo Joonghyuk pressed harder to make his queen cry out louder.

Kim Dokja parted his lips, letting Yoo Joonghyuk’s tongue slip past and lick inside. Kim Dokja sucked on the tongue, leaving him wheezing and out of breath. Yoo Joonghyuk immediately pulled away when Kim Dokja began to cough.

“Are you okay? Did I go too far? Should I get the healer?”

Kim Dokja coughed once again, and guilt began to overtake Yoo Joonghyuk’s face. To assure he was fine, Kim Dokja flicked one of Yoo Joonghyuk’s horns and scowled. He pulled Yoo Joonghyuk’s shirt collar and smirked.

“Joonghyuk, I’m fine. You just caught me off guard.” He grinded his hips against Yoo Joonghyuk’s waist. “No need to treat me like I’m fragile.”

The temperature in the room seemed to suddenly rise and something very hard began to poke Kim Dokja’s thigh. Kim Dokja gulped and looked down.

“O-Oh...you’re quite big…”

Yoo Joonghyuk let out an amused laugh as he began to rip off Kim Dokja’s clothes. Kim Dokja let out a shrill cry when Yoo Joonghyuk’s tongue licked a stripe over his neck.

“You asked for this Dokja,” Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes darkened, “You’re getting no mercy from me.”

“Eep.”

Yoo Joonghyuk easily removed all of Kim Dokja’s clothes, leaving the queen bare to his eyes. Kim Dokja’s leathery tail shyly wrapped around his thigh and Yoo Joonghyuk seized it, rubbing the spade tip. Kim Dokja let out a whimper and Yoo Joonghyuk crawled on top of him, peppering kisses all over Kim Dokja’s face. At the same time, Yoo Joonghyuk’s hands wandered over Kim Dokja’s body, teasing and rubbing against sensitive areas.

When Yoo Joonghyuk stared up at Kim Dokja’s face, the queen’s cheeks were flushed and his shoulders were tinged red. He pressed a kiss to Kim Dokja’s clavicle before trailing down to pert, pink buds. Yoo Joonghyuk swirled his tongue around the bud, giving it a nip and doing the same to the other. His hand trailed down Kim Dokja’s waist and pressed against the puckered entrance.

Kim Dokja gasped as a finger entered, probing and rubbing his inner walls. He felt warm and realized something wet began to leak from his ass. Kim Dokja didn’t know that one of his demon skills was to be self-lubricating. He spread his legs wider so that Yoo Joonghyuk could reach deeper.

Yoo Joonghyuk inserted two more fingers, stretching Kim Dokja’s walls. He pressed against a certain spot and Kim Dokja saw stars. Kim Dokja’s back arched off of the bed and the demon king simply laughed.

“Was that good?”

“N-No.”

“It’s not good to lie.” Yoo Joonghyuk pressed against the spot again.

Kim Dokja whimpered, his toes curled in pleasure. “Y-Yes...touch me there again.”

Yoo Joonghyuk lightly brushed against the spot and Kim Dokja let out a needy whine.

“There—Joonghyuk there!”

Kim Dokja’s eyes were covered with a lusty haze, his wings fluttering behind him. The sight made Yoo Joonghyuk pleased. He raised one of Kim Dokja’s legs and positioned his erection at Kim Dokja’s entrance. Dazed, Kim Dokja watched as Yoo Joonghyuk pushed himself inside, barely giving him any time to adjust to the thick intrusion.

“N-No, go slow! I-I might break!”

Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes softened and he caressed Kim Dokja’s cheeks. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you.” With that, he thrusted the rest of the way in, making Kim Dokja cry out as the demon king’s thick cock filled him all the way up. He felt like he was drunk, his mind was racing as he tried to balance both the pain and pleasure he was feeling at the moment.

Yoo Joonghyuk kissed Kim Dokja’s cheeks to try and distract the queen from the thick intrusion. Kim Dokja slowly adjusted to it before finally giving Yoo Joonghyuk the signal to move. Yoo Joonghyuk admired the queen’s eyes that were gazing at him with adoration.

“My queen is so beautiful,” remarked Yoo Joonghyuk. He put his hands on Kim Dokja’s waist and began to thrust. Kim Dokja clawed the sheets underneath him and gasped as Yoo Joonghyuk struck his prostate with accurate precision. Kim Dokja felt saliva drip out of his mouth as he was left gasping for air.

“M-More…” Kim Dokja cried out, holding his legs to spread them wider.

Yoo Joonghyuk smirked as he flipped Kim Dokja over so that his queen’s ass was sticking up in the air. He saw how swollen Kim Dokja’s rim was and stroked it lovingly. “So warm and all for me.”

Kim Dokja could only whimper in the sheets. He weakly met Yoo Joonghyuk’s thrusts, his hips slowly losing feeling as the night continued.

Yoo Joonghyuk grabbed Kim Dokja’s cock and began to stroke it. The cum leaking from the reddened tip made it easier to stroke back and forth.

“Cum for me Dokja.” He whispered into Kim Dokja’s ear.

Kim Dokja moaned as he came into Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand. The semen dripped from Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand as he lifted it to his lips. Yoo Joonghyuk licked it and spread the rest on Kim Dokja’s back. Kim Dokja was too tired to complain and he collapsed on the sheets. Yoo Joonghyuk kept a hold on Kim Dokja’s hips as he continued to thrust in and out. He eventually reached his orgasm, his excess cum leaking out of Kim Dokja’s hole.

“...’m tired…” Kim Dokja mumbled. His thighs were trembling with exertion, he could barely move a muscle.

Yoo Joonghyuk let out a dark laugh. “What are you talking about my dear queen? The night is still young.”

Kim Dokja’s eyes widened as he felt Yoo Joonghyuk harden inside of him.

“What the fuck...are refractory periods nonexistent?” Kim Dokja tried to crawl away but Yoo Joonghyuk kept a firm grip on him. “N-No...I’m going to break....or even go crazy.”

“Just once more. Let’s indulge ourselves tonight.”

And Yoo Joonghyuk began to move again, thrusting in and out. A mix of demon slick and cum leaked out of Kim Dokja’s hole and onto the sheets. Kim Dokja weakly moaned as he felt his cock get hard, still sensitive from post-orgasm.

This bastard is going to kill me! I knew it!

The next day, Yoo Joonghyuk served his queen without any complaint. Every request was granted without question. The poor queen was unable to stand or even leave the bed.

“Am I forgiven yet?”

“...”

“You were the one who asked for more.”

Kim Dokja let out a few coughs. “I’m wheezing because of you, bastard.”

“You were fine last night...” Yoo Joonghyuk frowned, a slight hint of guilt in his eyes.

“Shut up…” Kim Dokja wheezed out. “Get me a glass of water.”

Kim Dokja’s lungs felt like they were on fire. The last time he felt this unwell was when he did track and field for his physical education class.

Yoo Joonghyuk presented the glass of water and Kim Dokja slowly drank it. He stared at Yoo Joonghyuk, who was trying to look like a proud demon king, but was failing. The king had a dejected look on his face and Kim Dokja could see his hand twitching to hold his.

“...Fine. You can hold me.”

Yoo Joonghyuk quickly sat by Kim Dokja’s side and Kim Dokja couldn’t help but blush as the demon king pressed a kiss to his cheek.

Kim Dokja enjoyed his life in the demon world. A wonderfully doting husband, caring servants, unlimited food...what else could he possibly need? This was the perfect life. Sure he had some days where he couldn’t stand or breathe because of this random heart condition, but those were so rare he never remembered them. There was also Yoo Joonghyuk’s insatiable sex drive, but Kim Dokja could usually avoid that if he faked being tired.

All of that came to an end when Kim Dokja found a man passed out in front of the castle. Kim Dokja was taking a stroll around the castle when he came upon the unconscious person. He immediately called for some servants and the person was whisked away to the infirmary.

Turns out the person was a human. They were the first human Kim Dokja encountered since reincarnating into this world. Of course he was curious about them and invited the human to dinner with him and Yoo Joonghyuk.

Everything was going well. The human brought out a bottle of wine and offered it to the royals. Yoo Joonghyuk declined, but Kim Dokja didn’t want to seem rude so he accepted a glass.

The red wine smelled nice and Kim Dokja idly sipped it as the human spoke about his long and arduous journey from the human world to the demon realm. Kim Dokja nodded from time to time, aptly paying attention.

Kim Dokja felt his body warm and fanned himself.

“Whew, this alcohol is quite strong.”

“Ah, is that so?” The human smiled as he gestured to the wine bottle, “Perhaps you should have another glass.”

“He will not.” Yoo Joonghyuk said firmly. “He had enough.”

“Joonghyuk-ah, it’s fine. Maybe one more glass won’t hurt.” Kim Dokja picked up the stem of his wine glass and held it out for the human to pour more wine. He started to feel sweat beads on his forehead and his vision began to blur.

“T-This is quite strong actually. Maybe I shouldn’t.”

Kim Dokja tried to put his glass down, but found he couldn’t feel his limbs. He watched as the glass fell from his hand and spilled all over the table. Kim Dokja tried to apologize but the only thing that came out of his mouth was a dry heave.

He was gagging. That wasn’t normal.

Kim Dokja felt as if he couldn’t breathe. He clutched his chest and felt his heartbeat quicken. His heart lurched and suddenly Kim Dokja’s head hit the table. The pain was excruciating and he silently screamed. The blood rushing to his head made him dizzy and he closed his eyes. The last thing Kim Dokja felt was a warm hand touching his forehead and muted screams.

The sound of sniffling and crying roused Kim Dokja from his sleep. He let out a wet cough and the person beside him stopped crying and gasped.

“Queen Dokja?” Lee Seolhwa was wiping her eyes with a tissue and helped Kim Dokja sit up on the gurney. Kim Dokja struggled getting up as his chest heaved for air.

“Queen Dokja, how’s your condition? Please tell me if you’re in any pain.”

Kim Dokja wanted to respond but his throat was parched. He pointed at his heart, which was still aching.

Lee Seolhwa cursed. She handed Kim Dokja a glass of water. As Kim Dokja drank, Lee Seolhwa pressed her palm against his chest, monitoring for any signs of discomfort.

“Hm, I think most of the effects have subsided. Your heartbeat sounds weak, but that’s normal in your case.” Lee Seolhwa took Kim Dokja’s free hand and pressed a kiss to the back, “We all prayed very hard for your recovery. The king has been distraught for days.”

“Recovery?” Kim Dokja said with a scratchy voice, “What happened? I can’t recall anything.”

“A human poisoned you. The wine was laced with a lethal dose of a rare poison. It can kill even the most powerful demons in an instant.”

Kim Dokja almost dropped the glass of water. “H-How did I live then?”

“I’m not sure. It must’ve been a miracle,” Lee Seolhwa wiped a stray tear that ran down her cheek. She stood up. “I must immediately alert the king of your health. He’ll be overjoyed to see that you’ve awoken.”

Before Kim Dokja could excuse her, Lee Seolhwa bolted out of the room. Kim Dokja blinked and let out a sigh.

“A miracle huh,” Kim Dokja muttered as he patted his chest. “How did I live from that?”

If it was lethal to the most powerful of demons…

Demons…

Kim Dokja rubbed the blunt horns on his head. He was definitely a demon. He should’ve died from the poison.

Or maybe because he transmigrated...could that be why he survived? Other than the extra appendages on his head and back, Kim Dokja felt the same as when he was on Earth.

The door slammed open and Lee Seolhwa appeared once again, this time red and out of breath. She also brought a wheelchair and wheeled it towards Kim Dokja.

“Queen Dokja, I’m sorry, but you must come with me at once.”

Lee Seolhwa helped Kim Dokja into the wheelchair, buckling the belt midway before whisking him out of the room. Kim Dokja held on tight as Lee Seolhwa ran through the hallway and towards the throne room. The wheels squeaked as Lee Seolhwa abruptly stopped and Kim Dokja almost fell off from inertia.

There was a huge crowd gathered in the room, all silent as Yoo Joonghyuk’s voice boomed.

“Any last words from you human?”

The human guest was chained to the ground. They let out a laugh and spat at Yoo Joonghyuk’s directions. “Condolences to you. Glory to the humans.”

Yoo Joonghyuk snapped and a black greatsword appeared in his hands. With one hand, he picked it up and pointed it at the human, who held a crazed smile on their lips.

“Lowly human, how dare you take my queen from me.” The sword began to wrap itself with dark flames, “I’ll destroy everything you ever held dear as revenge.”

Kim Dokja was startled by the fierce look on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face. The demon king looked unhinged and furious, ready to kill without hesitation. This was the first time that Kim Dokja could ever say that Yoo Joonghyuk was truly a demon. This was the demon king he read about long ago. Yoo Joonghyuk’s feral visage was the same one that decorated the front cover of the webnovel.

It made Kim Dokja realize that the demon king from the novel wasn’t out for pointless destruction, he was just heartbroken from losing his queen.

“Joonghyuk!”

The crowd turned their heads to where Kim Dokja shouted. Yoo Joonghyuk’s eyes widened and the fire around the sword fizzled out as he stared hopelessly at Kim Dokja.

“Dokja?”

Lee Seolhwa hurriedly pushed the wheelchair to the throne. Yoo Joonghyuk cupped Kim Dokja’s face, his thumb brushed against the apple of his cheeks.

“You’re alive?”

Kim Dokja nodded and held Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand, and noticed the slight tremble. He squeezed the hand with certainty. “Yeah. I’m okay.”

The anger on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face gradually faded and the demon king was left tired. He pulled Kim Dokja to his chest and hugged him tightly, as if he was afraid Kim Dokja would leave. Kim Dokja rubbed the demon king’s back while whispering sweet reassurances.

“I’m here, it’s okay.”

“I thought...you left me.” Yoo Joonghyuk’s voice wavered. “Seolhwa said—”

“I’m here,” Kim Dokja reassured the king with a tired smile, “I’m sorry for scaring you.”

Yoo Joonghyuk exhaled and pressed a kiss to Kim Dokja’s forehead, “Please give me a moment.” Yoo Joonghyuk reluctantly let go of Kim Dokja and returned his attention to the human. “You can have your condolences back. However, this does not change your fate.”

The human stared at Kim Dokja, confused, “The queen is supposed to be dead! How the hell did you survive from that poison?”

Kim Dokja shrugged. “Luck?”

“That wine was blessed by the top saints of the church. A demon’s soul should’ve been incinerated.”

“I guess they didn’t pray hard enough.” Kim Dokja watched as Yoo Joonghyuk’s sword was enveloped in dark flames again. “Joonghyuk?”

“Hm? Don’t try to stop—“

“Don’t leave a trace behind. You might stain the floor.”

“Noted.”

The execution was swift and clean.

Afterwards, Kim Dokja advised Yoo Joonghyuk to fortify the barrier between the demon and human worlds. That way, no more humans could cross over and try to initiate the beginning of the webnovel.

It was also to protect Yoo Joonghyuk.

If the events of the webnovel happened, then the demon king would die at the hands of the hero. Kim Dokja preferred his husband alive and well.

Two weeks later, Lee Seolhwa gave Kim Dokja another checkup.

“Your heart is beating normally. I believe every trace of the poison has been flushed from your system. There shouldn’t be any lingering side effects.”

“That’s good to hear,” said Kim Dokja. Next to him, Yoo Joonghyuk let out a sigh of relief.

After Lee Seolhwa left the room, Yoo Joonghyuk’s hold on Kim Dokja tightened and Kim Dokja huffed. He elbowed the clingy demon king.

“Didn’t you hear her? I’m fine. Let go.”

“No.”

“I need my personal space.”

Yoo Joonghyuk glowered. “I’m not letting you out of my sight. What happens if some other fool tries to take you away from me?”

“You sealed the gateway to the human world already, nobody else is coming.”

Kim Dokja’s life was literally the only thing stopping Yoo Joonghyuk from waging war with the human world. The humans should be thankful he transmigrated here.

“Still.” Yoo Joonghyuk pressed his face to Kim Dokja’s neck, “I’m keeping you as close as possible.”

“Joonghyuk-ah~ your concern is cute, but—“

“You should have died.”

Kim Dokja went quiet. Yoo Joonghyuk’s finger traced patterns over Kim Dokja’s heart. Kim Dokja’s heartbeat soared. It was always fast whenever he was with Yoo Joonghyuk.

“Even though you're my queen, that poison could’ve killed you. Especially with this fragile heart of yours.”

“It was just luck.” Kim Dokja’s heart stuttered for a moment and he closed his eyes. “Do I have to reassure you I’m fine again?”

Yoo Joonghyuk let out a deep chuckle. Kim Dokja opened his eyes and pouted, “Joonghyuk-ah?”

“No,” Yoo Joonghyuk softly smiled, “You don’t need to.”

The smile on the demon king’s face made Kim Dokja’s heart pound and he began to feel dizzy. Yoo Joonghyuk’s handsome face was the real weapon here.

Kim Dokja pulled Yoo Joonghyuk’s face closer, “Yes, I’m so lucky to have met you Joonghyuk.” He pressed a chaste kiss to the demon king’s lips. “So very lucky.”
