Summary
Peter Parker is Spider-Man. He's never hated that fact more than when his soulmark gets exposed on national television during what should have been a routine rescue. Now everybody and his brother is saying his words to him, hoping they'll get their fifteen minutes of fame, and he's - he's just done.
And then he meets Wade Wilson. And then he meets Deadpool.
(Soulmate angst, identity shenanigans, followed by our boys awkwardly trying to play parent to the cloned kid whose scars match Wade's, and who desperately needs some TLC after living in an Oscorp lab all his life. Turns out it's a lot easier to love yourself when you're trying to convince somebody else to do the same.)

peter thinks deadpool is his soulmate and wade KNOWS spiderman is his soulmate. the identity specifications r important. this is so miraculous coded
i love bob teenage runaway. so cute weasals and wades coparenting. i love how much better wade is at it
awww the glow he gets from making spiderman feel better. ans the conflicting "i should tell him im deadpool, that im a terrible person"
ouuu peters not going to the avengers cuz hes scared what SHIELD will do w the test subject cuz they have wades mutation.
> So how can Peter let the man know about this? How can Peter knowingly tell a murderer something that’ll make him murder more people? As soon as Peter tells Deadpool any of this, those deaths will be on Peter. They’ll effectively be his fault. His responsibility.
> The pup’s tongue hangs from its mouth as it pants in excitement and wags its tail, lapping up all the attention. Sigh. What Deadpool wouldn’t give to be that puppy right now, eagerly going belly up under Spidey’s enthusiastic scritch scratches.
< Leaving his mask on the table, Peter webs out a line, too.
Crawls to the furthest corner away from the kid, the corner closest to the front door.
Silently, they hang in opposite corners.
Together, and not.
> He builds himself a little web hammock and hides himself inside it. A minute or two later, Peter’s senses pick up on the tinny smacking sounds of him munching on bits of cool pancake, completely hidden from sight in his web.
Despite the horrible reality this kid has faced, Peter allows himself a smile.
> Peter might be losing his mind.
It starts as a tickle, a spider sense at the base of his neck, an urge to move, protect, act. Without the benefit of thought, Peter’s slinking across the ceiling on all fours, building. Weaving.
> because he lays a hand on Deadpool’s stiff forearm, grip firm. Reckless, reckless. His soulmate’s brave, reckless, both. It’s odd to be around someone who’s not scared of him even a little bit, even when he goes scary. It takes some of the wind out of his sails. Spidey’s hand is so close to Wade’s ruined soulmark and he doesn’t even know it.
> , the kid crawls down the webbing on the wall like an actual giant spider, using all four limbs, which isn’t terrifying at all, no sirree bob.
> Spidey gives as good as he gets and obviously likes to laugh a lot. No wonder he’s got those adorable little laugh lines around his pretty sparkling brown eyeballs.
Lovestruck sigh.
> Spidey’s eyes show his every emotion. He’s looking an awful lot like a kicked puppy, all sad eyes on Mini-Mutant. There’s a realization in them. “You were created to kill me?”
> Yet there’s something hidden in the words Spidey’s leaving unsaid. Deadpool knows enough to know he won’t like it, whatever it is. It’s telling, that Spider-Man didn’t protest when Deadpool claimed right in front of him just how many people he’s about to unalive bloodily.
> [... Maximum effort?]
[[LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE –]]
“Maximum effort,” Deadpool whispers.
Heart dropped into his stomach, time slowing wayyyyy down, Deadpool reaches up to his mask and rips –
it –
off.
[LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE]
> “Happy Chinese New Year!”
And Peter had about lost his mind.
Seriously. By the time he’d come to and realized what happened, he had that guy’s blood splattered across his suit and along his knuckles and he’d just – he’d just crashed out, as the kids say these days. The woman who’d been held at gunpoint had looked stricken, had flinched away from Peter when he tried to reach out and help her up, and that had truly been the last straw on truly one of the worst days ever.
> Spidey’s eyes are full of them, big and brown and sad.
“No, no, no, don’t cry sweetie, please,” Wade coos. He can feel his own eyes watering under the mask in sympathy, fuck.
> Spidey shushes him, petting soft fingers down his arm, up and down. The leather in between them feels like an intolerable chasm. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, shhhh, I didn’t mean them, I’m sorry –”
They stay curled together for the rest of the night.
