Summary
Just then, the last of the blood slipping from that boy into Spike, him and Dru grabbing for each other with their fangs in each other’s mouths, then walking hand in hand up Fifth Avenue, all the way back home, a little prayer croaks out of him, before he realizes enough to grab it back—Please. Please, let it be like this always.

One of the best Spike’s character study I have ever read- Spike/Drusilla and Spike/Buffy in the future.
Also, it’s nice that Spike gets a bit of remorse (or not remorse, but maybe something similar) about Nikki’s death.
Yeah he was a vampire and she was a Slayer but it was interesting to see the contrapposition between Spike’s one-sided obsession toward her in the past, this mixture of eroticism and death and para-social feelings that he thought about her, and the knowledge that now that he has a soul New York will always be haunted for him by the Slayer he murdered, the Slayer he was SO proud to have murdered, the Slayer he obsessed over before Buffy and that could have been Buffy if things in both his and her life had gone differently. And his attempts to make amends with Nikki’s son, Robin, if not (only) for the murder itself for at least having previously said to Robin that his mother didn’t love him because she preferred fighting and death (aka, in his mind, Spike) to him, and the knowledge that It might all be worthless because Robin might very well never forgive him for Nikki’s death, and he is in his rights to do so, but this is still a thing that Spike, finally, understand is worth having.
