Work Text:
You love Gojo, Megumi reminded himself as he stared at the scene in front of him. You love him sooooo much. You are so grateful to him for taking you and Tsumiki in. You love Gojo.
“Oh~ Megumi-chan!”
You hate him.
“Gojo,” Megumi said as calmly as he could between grit teeth. “How long have you been there?”
“Since I sent you that text halfway through your date!” Gojo laughed delightedly from the bushes. There were leaves in his hair. “You shouldn’t have looked so gloomy, Megumi-chan! Your date looked scared you were going to leave!”
Megumi took one deep breath, and then another for good measure. It wouldn’t do him good to commit patricide. Was it even considered patricide if Gojo wasn’t his real dad, or was it simple murder?
“He’s very cute,” Gojo nodded, looking serious. Megumi could see the humor in his eyes. “And very interested in you, by the looks of it. I’m not sure how, when you look like that all the time. Good job!”
“What do you mean like that,” Megumi snapped, deciding the deep breaths were pointless. He was going to commit patricide.
“Like you’re going to commit murder!” Gojo laughed happily. Then he stopped. “You’re not going to kill your father, right, Megumi-chan?”
“Where’s your leash.”
“Ah~, Suguru’s at home, disappointed in me as always.”
Megumi pinched the bridge of his nose, huffing. “I am going to Toge’s, alone, so your husband doesn’t become a widow so young.”
“ But Megumiiii,” Gojo whined, reaching out and grabbing Megumi’s ankle as he turned to walk off. “I want to hear about your date!”
“Why, when you were there for half of it?” Megumi could visualize the pout.
“Just tell me if you’re going to see him again!”
“I am a grown man who doesn’t have to tell you anything.”
“You’re my baby!”
“Why don’t you do this to Tsumiki?!”
“I never had to worry about her. You, on the other hand-”
“One more word and I kill you, Gojo,” Megumi warned.
“I suppose you’ll see him again,” Gojo mused as if he hadn’t heard Megumi. He was really good at that. “I mean, that kiss looked pretty promising!”
Megumi stomped on Gojo’s hand wrapped around his other foot, ignoring both the blush on his face and Gojo’s hissed fuck! Megumi turned to walk off immediately, deciding that he was never going to have this conversation with Gojo.
“See you at home, Megumi-chan!” Gojo called, sing-song. Despite himself, Megumi smiled a little.
~
Megumi knocked on Toge’s door, his dogs waiting patiently beside him despite their tails going crazy. They recognized Toge’s place; they’d been over often enough, and they loved the selectively mute boy almost as much as he loved them.
“Toge,” he called, knowing that he wouldn’t answer the door if he wasn’t sure who was there. “It’s me. I have Kuro and Shiro.”
The door shot open and he was met with Toge’s eyes, bright and happy. He made several hand movements that indicated for them to come in and Megumi wasted no time in doing so.
“Megumi,” he said, making said boy look up as he took off his shoes.
How was the date?
Megumi could feel his face turning pink as he finally got his shoes off. He cleared his throat, ignoring the shit-eating grin that was slowly growing on Toge’s face.
“Get him,” he ordered his dogs. They yipped excitedly and burst forward, all but taking Toge down to the ground. He laughed loudly, something even Megumi barely heard despite the trust built between the two of them.
He ignored Toge’s frantic gasps that passed as his laughter, making himself at home and grabbing them both some water. It was only when Megumi was sitting on Toge’s couch, comfortable, that he decided to show mercy.
“Come here.”
The dogs came running over, Shiro jumping onto the couch to lay her head on Megumi’s thigh. Kuro laid on his feet, his tail still wagging lazily.
Toge got up off the ground, hair mussed and dog hair all over him. He frowned at Megumi despite the joy in his eyes.
Mean.
Megumi chuckled, handing Toge his glass of water when he sat. “I’m not mean, you loved that.”
Toge set it aside, insistently signing date? Date? Date?
“ God, it was fine!”
Just fine? You didn’t like him? Was he weird?
“Okay, better than fine,” Megumi mumbled. Toge began signing again, and Megumi turned his head away, hearing Toge’s scandalized gasp.
“Fushiguro!”
Megumi fought the urge to laugh, biting down on his lips and closing his eyes.
“So I’ve been demoted to Fushiguro huh?”
The air was knocked out of him as he was pushed sideways, forcing Shiro to jump down off the couch. An elbow dug into his side and he gasped in pain.
“Fine, fine, it was great, I’ll tell you everything!”
Toge sat back up, arms crossed as he watched Megumi right himself again. He rubbed his side.
“I was going to tell you anyway,” he muttered childishly. Toge rolled his eyes.
“Tell me.”
“ Alright, we went to the dog park.”
Toge looked at him in the way where, whether you’ve heard Toge speak or not, you could hear the duh. Megumi huffed.
“You said I’m the mean one!”
Toge presented his elbow menacingly. Keep talking.
Megumi flinched back, scrunching up his face and signing a quick abuse before ducking Toge’s elbow.
“His name is Itadori! Yuuji. Itadori Yuuji,” he said quickly. “He’s studying to become a physical therapist. His best friend is a film major. He likes tea, not coffee. He knows Maki, and Kugisaki. He brought treats for us and the dogs.”
He brought you dog treats?
“Toge!” Megumi complained, ignoring the grin on his friend’s face as he felt his own get hot. “He made treats for the dogs! And he made us onigiri!”
“Eh?” Toge said, dropping his elbow of death. Made?
“Yeah,” Megumi said, turning his face away from Toge again. He hated when people could see he had feelings. “He cooked up some sweet potatoes and brought green beans and apples for Kuro and Shiro. Said he looked it up to make sure it was safe for dogs.”
Does he know you’re a vet?
“That was before he knew I was studying to become a vet.”
Toge pressed up against Megumi’s side so he could shove his hands in his face. And he made onigiri? Was it good?
“I was going to give you the rest of mine before you broke my rib.”
Toge bonked him on the head before making gimme hands.
“You’re so violent,” Megumi muttered, reaching into his pocket and giving Toge the rest of the onigiri Itadori made. Toge made a happy noise after biting into it, putting a thumbs up where Megumi could see it.
“So, it went good. I told him about myself. Mostly because he asked questions. And I-”
Megumi put his head in his head, swore he could feel smoke coming out of his ears.
“What?” Toge asked, voice a little low, likely because his throat hurt from talking so much and laughing so loud earlier. He poked Megumi hard on the shoulder. “What?”
“Ikissedhim,” Megumi mumbled. All was silent for a moment before Megumi was grabbed by the shoulders and shook hard, Toge’s eyes wide with glee. The dogs were barking in excitement, ready to play.
“Get him!” Megumi blurted, scrambling to the floor and then his feet before dashing down Toge’s hallway.
“ Fushigurooo!” He heard Toge yell, grinning because every time he managed to make Toge forget he was mute was like a gift.
(Really, it warmed his heart to know that Toge trusted him enough to feel comfortable to yell at him. But he refused to admit to that cheesy reason. Besides, he was sure Toge knew.)
He made it into Toge’s bedroom, tried to figure out a place to hide before Toge could get to him, and failed. He spun around and saw Toge in the doorway, a sight that would have been horrifying if Toge wasn’t so small. To be honest, it was still a little horrifying.
He was panting, hair messed up again, clothes rumpled, Megumi’s dogs wiggling happily behind him. Toge raised an arm, pointing a finger directly at Megumi.
“ Get him.”
~
All four, boys and dogs alike, were panting and sprawled across the floor of Toge’s bedroom by the time it was over. Megumi wasn’t sure he’d ever laughed so hard, or heard Toge laugh so much. They had fun.
He felt a nudge on his arm and turned his head.
So you really like him?
Megumi groaned, staring up at the ceiling so he wouldn’t have to be perceived as he spoke.
“Yeah, I do. He’s really….nice.”
Toge snorted.
“Fuck, fine, he’s really hot and somehow incredibly sweet and apparently a good cook with a kind heart? And he liked me for some reason? Yeah, I really like him.”
I thought you did. Usually you take them home to sleep with and then never talk to them again but all you did is kiss him and now you’re blushing about it.
Megumi narrowed his eyes at the mischievous look on Toge’s face. “Are you calling me a slut?”
Toge shrugged, grin wide on his face. Megumi huffed, turning his head to look away from Toge again.
“And then of course, Gojo was a menace.”
There was silent laughter and Toge hit his side again to make him look.
I can’t talk anymore. Throat hurts. So look at me.
“Do you need anything?” Megumi asked, a little concerned. He tried to get up but he was pulled back down.
No thank you. What did Gojo do?
“He hid in the bushes for half our date! Can you believe that! Never mind, of course you can, it’s Gojo.”
More silent laughter. So Gojo saw you sucking face with the man of your dreams?
Megumi chopped Toge on top of the head. “ No, it was an innocent little kiss. A little baby one. We hardly kissed.”
Liar.
“Anyways,” Megumi continued, voice rising. “We agreed to see each other again. I don’t know when, but he has my number.”
Show me a picture!
“I don’t have a picture.”
Toge narrowed his eyes. Megumi huffed.
“I don’t! I’m not a weirdo like you.”
So if I look at your camera roll I definitely won’t see creepy stalker shots of Itadori playing with your dogs?
Megumi turned his head. “...you will not.”
There was a moment where Megumi could tell that Toge was trying to decide if wrestling the former for his phone would be worth it before Megumi’s phone started ringing. They both looked at the screen.
Caller: Itadori
Toge hit his shoulder frantically and Megumi slapped him away. “I’m answering, chill out!”
He pressed accept and put it on speaker when Toge indicated to, rolling his eyes.
“Hello?”
“Hi! Hi, Fushiguro. Did you make it home okay?”
Toge made kissy faces and hearts with his hands, making Megumi turn pink.
“Ah, not yet. I stopped at Toge’s.”
“Oh! Tell him I said hi!”
“Sure.”
There was a pause.
“He said hi.”
Itadori laughed and without really noticing, Megumi smiled a little at the sound. “Cool! Hey, uh, I was wondering, are you uh...are you free? Next Saturday? So I can take you out?”
Toge put his hand over his mouth, faking shock. Megumi rolled his eyes, reaching up (thanking the gods he had long limbs) to grab a pillow off Toge’s bed and wack him with it.
“Uh. Yeah. What did you have in mind?”
“Really? Oh! That’s good, good, that’s great. I was thinking a picnic, you could bring Kuro and Shiro again!”
He sounds cute, Toge signed.
“You just want me for my dogs,” Megumi said, deadpan. Itadori laughed brightly, hearing the tease.
“You’re totally right. You’ve seen through me so easily, Fushiguro!”
Almost against his will, Megumi smiled. He could feel Toge’s eyes on him, but decided to ignore it.
“But yeah. Saturday. That works.”
“I’m so happy,” Itadori mused. It sounded like he was walking. “I really had a good time with you, Fushiguro. I can’t wait to see you again.”
Megumi’s eyes widened and he felt himself turn red, burying his face in his knees and ignoring the frantic hits to his arm.
“Yeah,” Megumi said, knowing he sounded muffled. “Me too.”
“Aw, you sound embarrassed! You’re so cute, Fushiguro.”
“Please stop.”
Itadori laughed again. “Okay, I will. Hey, can I send you some pictures I took today? Just so you have the memory too?”
“...Mm.”
“Cool. Talk to you later! Let me know when you get home safe!”
“Sure. Bye.”
Megumi hung up and kept his face buried in his knees, curled up in a ball. Toge knocked him over so he was in fetal position.
“Megumi!”
“Oh, now I’m Megumi,” said man muttered, rolling over onto his stomach to keep his face hidden. “Stop talking, Toge. You’re going to hurt yourself.”
Toge rolled him back over so he could see Toge’s hands. The white-haired man decided to be kind and not point out the fact that Megumi was the same color as the cherries in his fridge.
I’m happy for you.
Megumi smiled. “Thanks, Toge.”
His phone chimed again and they both looked down at it.
Eight attachments from Itadori.
I want to see! Maybe he sent a picture of himself!
Megumi angled the phone so they could both see. The first six were of Kuro and Shiro, the seventh being one of Megumi smiling down at his dogs. Megumi’s heart thumped in his chest at the thought that Itadori felt the need to take a picture of him like that.
The last picture was enough to take Megumi down, out for the count. It was a selfie of Itadori, resting his head on top of a happy, panting Shiro. Kuro was next to him, nosing at his cheek. The smile on Itadori’s face was bright, and he was also midlaugh.
Without pausing to think about it, Megumi saved the photo and then locked his phone and threw it, hiding his face again. It really wasn’t fair of Itadori to be so cute.
A moment later, Toge poked him. He peeked over at the man.
Give me your passcode. I wasn’t done looking.
Megumi groaned, sticking out his hand and letting Toge use his thumb to bypass the fingerprint password lock. He heard Toge hum in approval and snuck another look at him.
He’s cute. Looks like he’s packing.
“Toge!” Megumi said, scandalized. There was a shit-eating grin on his face.
I meant like he works out. Pervert.
Megumi groaned. “What am I going to do?”
Suck his di-
Megumi slapped Toge’s hands, grabbing his phone and standing. “I’m going home.”
Toge let out that breathy, near silent laugh of his and nodded.
Don’t forget to text Itadori and let him know you’re safe. Me too.
“Mm,” Megumi agreed easily, leashing up his dogs and heading to the door. “I’ll see you later, Toge. Make sure to drink some tea.”
Toge rolled his eyes, waving his hands in a way that said I know I know.
Megumi smiled a little before heading out. He looked down at his phone where the picture of Itadori was still open.
Man, Megumi thought to himself, blowing out some air as he tugged his headphones on. I’m in trouble.
