"Lightning crackles across the sky; it’s storming. Seems like it’s always storming for these moments in Kaeya’s life-- the game changing ones, the ones that upend the whole chessboard. When his father dropped his pawn of a son here a decade ago and sent him into the enemy ranks to become Queen; that had been a violent storm.
The moves tonight, Kaeya isn’t sure of yet. The board is shaking, pieces dropping (Diluc, knelt in the mud and sobbing over his father’s corpse), but no stratagem playing out. Only the force of his brother’s violence like a shockwave, a wildfire, grief shattering the earth."
