Chapter Text
The door was ajar when Kakyoin and I arrived at Mr.Joestar's room. When we entered, Mr. Joestar and Mr. Avdol were surprised to see us. They then gave us a dubious look.
"Kakyoin, why is Y/N with you?" Mr. Joestar asked with a cold and terrifying voice.
Kakyoin and I flinched.
“What do you mean by that, Mr. Joestar?” Kakyoin asked, confused at Mr Joestar's sudden hostility.
“ANSWER ME!" Shouted Mr. Joestar, grabbing Kakyoin’s collar.
Mr. Avdol attempted to separate Mr. Joestar from Kakyoin, but Mr. Joestar shrugged him off. What could have happened to provoke Mr. Joestar so much? Kakyoin remained calm and answered Mr. Joestar’s question.
"Y/N has been with me the whole time, we were at the pool sunbathing."
"In your school uniform?!" blurted out Mr. Joestar, finding it peculiar. Kakyoin shrugged his shoulders.
"We came back because Jotaro didn't show up." I continued. “We thought he was still with you?”
Mr. Joestar and Mr. Avdol took Kakyoin’s words and mine with a pinch of salt. They looked at each other in search of an answer. I could understand if Mr. Joestar and Mr. Avdol had suspicions of me, but why Kakyoin? Wasn't he their friend? Mr. Avdol then turned to face me and asked...
"Y/N, you said you could see the shadow of our stands correct?"
"Y-yes." I answered as I straightened my spine.
"Could you tell me what mine looks like?" Mr. Avdol requested.
I wasn't sure why Mr. Avdol wanted me to describe his shadow. Maybe to test my abilities? Regardless, I answered honestly in hopes to clear any suspicions they may have.
"It looks like a bird covered in flames, like a phoenix."
Mr. Avdol gave me a nod of approval and then asked me another question.
"Tell me, what does Kakyoin's shadow look like?"
"It looks like a humanoid creature or an alien. It's hard to explain since it's just a shadow." I answered as I faced Kakyoin.
Kakyoin nodded his head and summoned Hierophant Green to validate my description. Mr. Joestar and Mr. Avdol let out a sigh of relief, yet it left Kakyoin and me more confused. Mr. Joestar then released Kakyoin and gave Mr Avdol a troubled look.
"If Kakyoin wasn’t with my grandson, then who the hell was that man we saw Jotaro leave with?!" Mr. Joestar shouted.
"There is only one answer to that," Mr. Avdol answered. "This is the work of an enemy stand user."
Worry washed over us. Jotaro was alone with the enemy, possibly oblivious. Who knows if the enemy defeated Jotaro. I shuddered at the thought.
We all agreed we need to find Jotaro, but the problem is where could he be? I don’t know about the others, but I’ve never been to Singapore and Jotaro could be anywhere. How are we going to find him? Mr. Avdol then looked at me, an idea popped in his head.
"Y/N," Mr. Avdol's voice jumped me out of my train of thought, "You mentioned your other ability is to sense the presence of stand users correct?" He asked.
"Yes, that's correct." I answered.
"May I request your assistance to help us find Jotaro?" Mr. Avdol pleaded, “Without someone with your ability, it will take us much longer to find him and aid him.”
Mr. Avdol’s plea moved me. I didn’t have the heart to reject him. Despite some misunderstandings, I can’t deny the kindness these men have given me. Deep in my heart I knew that the best way to repay their kindness is to help them in any way I can, so I nodded my head in agreement to help Mr. Avdol find Jotaro.
"Thank you so much Y/N!" Mr. Avdol said with a warm smile. "I suggest we go together. Mr. Joestar, Kakyoin, it is best you both remain here in case Jotaro returns or another stand user attempts to attack us." Mr. Avdol addressed.
"With all due respect Mr. Avdol, your stand is too destructive.” Kakyoin protested. “If you were to encounter the enemy, we may not get a chance to interrogate them. Let me go with Y/N instead, my stand is strongest in stealth after all." Kakyoin suggested.
"Kakyoin, remember there is an imposter among us who so happens to look exactly like you." Mr. Joestar said. “Besides, I trust Avdol won’t do anything that will endanger my grandson or Y/N.”
Kakyoin let out a ‘tsk’. I understood how Kakyoin felt. He wanted to help, but if he were to come with us, it could jeopardize the element of surprise against the enemy stand user. Once we all finalized our plan, Mr. Avdol and I made our way to the city.
Singapore was a bustling city. Tourists and locals alike filled the city with life. With the corner of my eye, I noticed a vendor selling coconut juice. It reminded me of the coconut juice Kakyoin bought me. I let out a sigh.
If only we weren’t in a life or death situation, I would’ve enjoyed sightseeing this city.
Mr. Avdol and I checked every alley in the city, but couldn’t find Jotaro anywhere. Dread washed over me. What if we were too late and the enemy won? Mr. Avdol placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t lose hope Y/N,” Mr. Avdol reassured me. “I saw a phone booth at that cable car station.” Mr. Avdol then pointed to the station. “We can give Mr. Joestar a quick call to see if Jotaro is with them.”
I nodded my head and followed Mr. Avdol to the station.
When Mr. Avdol called Mr. Joestar, Mr. Joestar informed us about Jotaro’s recent call and his encounter with the enemy stand user. He also told us that Jotaro went inside the cable cart to fight the stand user. Mr. Avdol and I let out a sigh of relief. We finally have a lead on Jotaro’s whereabouts. Now all we had to do was follow the cable carts to catch up to Jotaro before it’s too late.
It was silent inside the cable car. Mr. Avdol and I sat next to each other and were the only passengers in the car. I bit my lip to distract myself from my fast-beating heart. Mr. Avdol on the other hand was completely serene. The more I looked at him, the more I realized how handsome he is.
Mr. Avdol had a stoic, rugged face. He had two scars resembling tears traveling down his face. My eyes followed his scars down to his soft lips. They looked so kissable, I wonder what they felt like against my lips. I shook my head rejecting these thoughts. Mr. Avdol opened his eyes and turned his head to face me. I flinched at his intense gaze. He must’ve sensed me staring at him.
“You look tense,” Mr. Avdol said. “If you’re not calm and focused, you won’t be able to use your stand properly.”
“Right.” I muttered as I lowered my head.
As much as I wanted to stay calm, it was impossible. Mr. Avdol and everyone else were counting on me to find Jotaro. Not only that, I didn’t believe I have what it takes to defeat a stand user. What if my stand wasn’t as strong as Star Platinum? I stared at the palms of my hands feeling helpless.
“Have you recently discovered your stand Y/N?” Mr. Avdol asked, interrupting my thoughts.
I turned my head and stared at Mr.Avdol like a deer petrified by a headlight.
How did he find out I just discovered my abilities?!
Mr. Avdol let out a chuckle and said: “It’s natural for new stand users to fear their stands, but do not fret. If you were able to awaken a stand, that means you have a strong and determined soul” Mr. Avdol reassured me. “Have you attempted to summon your stand Y/N?”
“No.” I answered.
Mr. Avdol contemplated my response. Then he decided to coach me on how to summon my stand.
“The first step to summoning your stand is to clear your mind.” Mr. Avdol instructed. “Take a deep breath and let go of everything that is troubling you.”
“Ok.” I responded.
I closed my eyes and followed Mr. Avdol’s instructions. It was difficult at first, but after a few deep breaths, I could feel my muscles relax. Mr. Avdol muttered “good” and then gave me my next instruction.
“Now that you’re relaxed, imagine what your stand would look like.” He instructed.
The first thing that came to my mind was my mother’s beautiful rose garden. She had so many, from yellow, pink and, my favorite, vermillion. I remembered how soft the petals were in full bloom, but I also remembered how sharp their thorns were. My mother would always tell me to handle roses with care or they will hurt you.
Mom.
A tear streamed down my face remembering her. Has she noticed I’m missing? Will I ever see her again? I shook my head and took a deep breath.
I opened my eyes and saw my hands holding a big vermilion rose. Then I looked at my arms and saw rose branches coil around me. I stared in awe as more vermillion roses surrounded me. It looked identical to my mother’s vermillion roses. When I turned my head to look at Mr. Avdol, he was mesmerized by the sight.
“I’ve never seen such a beautiful stand before,” Mr. Avdol said in awe. “And that shade of red is a peculiar color.”
“Vermillion.” I said.
“Interesting,” Mr. Avdol responded. “Did you know vermillion signifies passion and love?” He asked.
I shook my head.
“It suits you.” Mr. Avdol continued. “You are a healer so it makes sense you are a soul full of love, however vermillion can also have a different significance.”
“What is it?” I asked.
“Since vermillion is a shade of red, it can signify anger and destruction. Though those characteristics don’t represent you.” Mr. Avdol said confidently.
Anger and destruction. I remember back in the freighter when I attacked the orangutan. There was the crack of a whip, but at the time I didn’t know it was actually my stand. Could that be the anger and destructive part Mr. Avdol mentioned? I know he said I can’t be capable of those things because of my healing abilities, but now I worry if my stand can be dangerous.
I buried that thought. What happened back at the freighter was in self-defense. There wasn’t any malice on my part, so I shouldn’t worry about something so absurd.
“Now that you’ve relaxed, let’s focus on finding Jotaro.” Mr. Avdol advised me.
Thanks to Mr. Avdol’s instructions, it was easier for me to focus and use my stand. Instead of sensing my closest surroundings, I discovered that I could release some rose petals to cover more ground. Traveling on the cable cart made it easier to visualize where I wanted the rose petals to go. Unfortunately my stand’s ability wasn’t strong above ground.
We were above water when my rose petals faintly sensed Jotaro nearby. I informed Mr.Avdol, and he nodded his head. The first thing Mr.Avdol did was look out the window.
“Y/N look!” Mr.Avdol shouted as he pointed out the window.
I approached the window and saw where he was pointing. Jotaro was in the water fighting a stand user, or what was left of him. I could see Star Platinum beating him in a pulp. Pity filled my heart for the stand user. There’s no way he’ll recover from that.
Once Star Platinum gave the final blow, leaving the stand user retired, I released more rose petals to signal Jotaro. He noticed the petals and faced our direction. Mr. Avdol and I waved at him from the cable car. Jotaro tipped his hat and hid his face. He then swam to shore.
