Chapter Text
Shota in short, had a shitty childhood.
Abandoned on the streets at the age of eight, he learned everything the hard way; don’t talk to strangers, certain foods in trash bins behind certain shops are still fresh and edible, don’t start fights: you will lose, people don’t treat you differently because of your age, alleyways with roofs provide good shelter and more. It wasn’t until the age of 24 had he made enough to rent an apartment for him and Izuku, since he never bothered anyone with his problems. Nedzu had known about his situation when he attended UA, and not so subtly handed him a good amount of money to survive. He’d always nod and bowed, thanking Nedzu for his help. He’d found Izuku half-dead in the alleyway across from where he usually stays, so imagine his surprise when he found out that this adorable green-haired boy was his brother!
“Sensei?” a voice came, snapping Shota out of his thoughts. He looked up to greet his brother.
“Hm?” He hummed back, gesturing for his brother to continue. The class already knew they were siblings -it’s not hard to find out if they had the same last name after all- but they knew that Aizawa (the older) would never play favourites and that Aizawa (the younger) respects his brother’s privacy and calls him “Sensei” during school hours.
“I want to-” Izuku’s speech was cut off midway when the door to the classroom opened, revealing the two people Shota wanted to never see again. Eyes wide, he quickly stood up and blocked Izuku from their view.
“What do you want?” He hissed dangerously. The class leaned back at the sheer hatred in his tone.
“Oh, Shota my baby! Aren’t you glad to see-” The green-haired woman’s words were cut off by an angry Shota glaring daggers at her soul.
“Don’t Shota me what the fuck do you want?” He growled back, hands holding tightly onto Izuku, who was trembling behind him.
“Well Hisashi and I want to start a family of our own-”
“Well, why don’t you finish this one first?!” He hissed, gesturing towards himself and Izuku. The class collectively gasped.
“Well we want to take Izuku-” Inko started.
“They’re taking me?!” Izuku whimpered from behind Shota, tears brimming the corners of his eyes.
“Who the fuck are you and what do you want with Deku?!” Bakugou growled from his seat, explosions popping out from his palms.
“You don’t get to ABANDON your kids and then show up one day to take your pick of the litter!” Shota yelled back. The class gasped again and glared at the couple at the front of the room, who were taken aback by their son’s words.
“Abandoned?!”
“That’s sick!”
“Who the fuck do you think you are?!”
“You’re no mother!”
“Now now Shota, that’s not fair! Your mother has made mistakes, but she’s here now, that’s got to count for something! Plus, your brother has a quirk now so-” The white-haired man who came with the green-haired woman interrupted.
“SHUT UP HISASHI!” Shota yelled, quirk activated. The man took a step back as Shota continued.
“This isn’t about you, this is about her!” Shota growled, pointing at the green-haired woman, “This is about what you didn’t do! This is about what I did, and you know what? I did a fucking fantastic job!”
The green-haired woman opened her mouth to say something, but Shota didn’t care and continued ranting, “Inko, Izuku is one of the top students in the entire first-year division! He is Nedzu’s personal student and fucking ALL MIGHT has eyes on him! He’s class president! He and Hatsume made something blow up and they weren’t even using explosive chemicals; they used watermelons! Watermelons!! And you know what, he did it all, NO THANKS TO YOU, because YOU. WEREN’T. HERE!” He screamed, the prickly feeling behind his usually dry eyes starting to get stronger. He didn’t notice how Todoroki’s ice was starting to form across his face. He didn’t notice how 3 of the girls were crying. He didn’t notice Bakugou’s shell-shocked face. He didn’t notice any of that from the rage building up inside him.
“And I appreciate that Shota, but Izuku belongs to me!” Inko said, fake tears rolling down her eyes. No one was fooled by it though; not after what Shota told them.
“HE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!” Shota yelled, covering Izuku’s ears to protect him from the volume. The class was startled at the volume their usually quiet teacher spoke at.
“I’m his mother!” Inko tried, wiping her eyes.
“YOU WERE MY MOTHER TOO!” Shota screamed, tears falling from his face. “YOU WERE MY MOTHER TOO AND LOOK AT YOU! What kind of mother ABANDONS her 8 year old son to fend for himself on the streets because of his quirk?! What kind of mother makes her son fight for his life in an alleyway?! WHAT KIND OF MOTHER MAKES HER SON SCAVENGE FOR FOOD JUST TO SURVIVE?! Do you know what it was like finding my LONG LOST BROTHER half DEAD in an alleyway covered in bruises and cuts that were deep enough to kill him?! HE WAS 4 YEARS OLD! I WAS ALMOST TOO LATE! I HAD TO CARE FOR THE BOTH OF US WHILE STILL LIVING OFF THE FUCKING STREETS! So tell me Inko, WHAT KIND OF MOTHER ARE YOU?!”
The class was speechless. Aizawa just gave them his whole life story in front of the entire class. He was abandoned by these people he called his parents, and those parents were now standing in front of them. Those people were trying to collect Izuku because they thought they could make money out of him and his quirk. Those people. Will. Pay. They hurt their dad. They hurt their precious cinnamon boy. Shinsou was so guilty from what he said to the bone-breaking kid that he couldn’t even look at him in the eyes, instead, he bowed his head as his shoulders shook.
Inko didn’t say anything. She just made a face and gesture at Hisashi, who made a move to grab Izuku by force. Shota noticed beforehand and snapped Hisashi’s arm in half before he could touch his brother. Hisashi fell to the floor and made pained noises as he rolled around in pain.
“GET OUT!” Shota growled, hugging a very scared Izuku. Inko bristled but made no move to leave. The class had enough and stood up.
“HE SAID GET OUT OR ARE YOU DEAF YOU BITCH?!” Mina yelled from her seat.
“Excuse me young lady but-” Inko tried.
“GET OUT! YOU AREN’T WELCOME HERE!” Uraraka screamed.
“You are even worse than my father and I thought he was bad!” Todoroki added.
“How the hell did you even get here?!” Ojiro hissed.
“This isn’t your b-” Inko tried again.
“GET OUT!” The class collectively screamed.
“I’M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT MY QUIRKED SON!” Inko yelled back dangerously.
“I’m not your son.” A tiny voice came.
“Excuse me?”
“I said, I’M NOT YOUR SON!” Izuku yelled, hugging onto his brother even tighter, “YOU WERE NEVER MY MOTHER! GO TO HELL WOMAN! SHOTA IS MORE OF A PARENT THAN YOU WILL EVER BE!”
“Shota, why don’t you-” Inko started.
“NO.” Izuku growled, walking toward his so-called mother, “Sho-chan is not going anywhere, and neither am I.”
“Leave.” Shota and Izuku both growled.
“Wha-”
“I SAID LEAVE!” they yelled. Inko finally took the clue and dragged her and Hisashi out of the door.
“And never. Come. Back.” Shota growled before slamming the door so hard it was a miracle it didn’t rip from its hinges at the sheer force. Izuku launched himself onto Shota’s shoulder, to which the said man hugged back. They dropped to the floor. It wasn’t long before Izuku’s tears started flowing out. The boy kept whispering “thank you thank you” to his brother, and Shota couldn’t hold his tears back either. He buried his head into Izuku’s curls as silent tears fell from his eyes.
The class was silent for a good few seconds. Mina, like the fearless gal she was, whipped up from her seat and wrapped her arms around her teacher and friend. The class followed her example and joined the group hug, crying alongside their family. Heck, even Bakugou’s eyes were suspiciously shiny!
So that’s how Mic found them when he entered the class for the second period. Smiling softly, he closed the door with a small click. He knew that Nedzu had allowed the couple in for a reason. He knew that Shota would rather die than let Izuku go back to these horrible people. He knew that they would never have to see them again, because Nedzu, like the cunning rat he was, called Tsukauchi the day before to arrest the couple when they left UA. He knew that 1A would fight to the death if one of their own was taken.
They are family after all.
