Dudebroship

Summary:

New friendships are the best! Fallen angel Jungkook hangs out with his human friends.

A Christmas gift for LunaticWriter based on her work "I know you want to be my bitch for tonight".

Notes:

This is dedicated to my wonderful German potato friend (her words not mine!) LunaticWriter.

She is absolutely awesome and puts up with me throwing random German phrases at her because I find it amusing.

This is based on her story "I know you want to be my bitch for tonight." It's a soulmate AU but I feel that completely undersells how amazing this fic is. Go and check it out RIGHT NOW!

This snippet sits somewhere between Chapter 16 - 18.

Work Text:

"Godzilla is a classic."

"I am not watching it."

"But hyung! I think it will cheer Fish up to watch a movie about a bad-ass lizard tearing up Tokyo. He's been a little down lately." Tae lifts his pet lizard up from his lap, turning him to face Yoongi. Fish stares at the elder before poking his tongue out.

"I'm not choosing based on the mental health of your lizard Tae, no matter how depressed he is." Yoongi picked his beer from the coffee table and drank a mouthful, turning his attention away from the pair.

"But Yoongs! What about the dudebroship code! If one of us is upset the others are honour-bound to support him." Taehyung gently put Fish in his 'TV' box - a shoe box with one side replaced with clear plastic so he can see the screen - and crossed the room towards Yoongi.

"Fish is not my dudebro. I am definitely not 'bro's' with a gecko." Yoongi folded his arms and pulled his body away as Tae sat next to him.

"He's not a gecko."

"What is he then?"

"Cute!" Tae suddenly changed positions on the couch, flinging his arms around Yoongi and looking at him with the best puppy eyes he could manage. "Hyung!! Godzillaaaa!"

Jungkook laughed affectionately at the pair. He didn’t have many friends here. Life was hard for a fallen angel. He was an outcast from heaven but also an outcast in hell. He was one of the more powerful beings but struggled to get the respect he deserved. Seokjin-hyung said he looked too innocent. Jungkook knew what he meant. His slight pout, doe-like eyes and seemingly innocent, child-like face were helpful when he was still an angel, as it helped humans to trust him easier. Even when encountering an angel they tended to freak out. He supposed that the wings were intimidating.

Seokjin-hyung. He laughed to himself. Both Seokjin and Jimin had insisted that Jungkook called them hyung even though he was the elder by several decades. They had argued to outsiders, humans, Jungkook looked the youngest, so he should agree just to prevent any unnecessary attention. Jungkook was sure it was so they could annoy him as his dongsaengs, a role he fully exploited when in the company of others.

His attention switched back to the two people squished alongside him on the sofa. His two human friends. Although Taehyung was nice when they first met, deeming them friends almost instantly, Jungkook worried that he’d be forgotten the next morning. He hadn’t factored for the force of nature that was Taehyung, a bright smile on his face when he received multiple text messages the following day. It was hard for anyone to resist Taehyung. The opening credits to Godzilla playing on the screen clear evidence.

Tae moved himself from Yoongi's side and checked on Fish before settling on the sofa beside Jungkook. The lavender haired human leaned into his side before prodding him lightly with his fingers.

"What?" The angel asked, turning his head to face his attacker. Tae smiled widely at him and snuggled closer to him as Yoongi snorted on his other side.

"Jungkookie. Cuddles." Jungkook rolled his eyes at the request, but opened his wings and wrapped them around the pair. He heard Yoongi mutter something about chickens in fake protest, but he arranged the wing so he was comfortable.

Jungkook made a happy noise and turned his attention to the movie. He was secretly pleased that they accepted who and what he was. They didn't know the whole story - Jungkook hadn't explained why he'd fallen and neither of them had asked - but they seemed to love Jungkook for Jungkook.

"Jungkookie. You should dye your hair. Yoongi-hyung can help you."

Yes, life was hard as a fallen angel, but with his two new friends Jungkook thought it wasn't so bad.
