Summary
What a mess, Sayeon thinks. She hadn’t expected for this to be such a pain, or for Ryujin to be so difficult.
Now, she wasn’t oblivious. She had seen Ryujin a few times before, walking around campus, occupying empty corners—presumably skipping classes, even smoking behind the gym. She could imagine the kind of crowd she ran with, if she ran with one at all, now that she thinks about it she’s never seen her with much company.
But that didn’t matter, she’d be damned if she let some delinquent girl take this away from her. Tutoring was going to look excellent on her college apps, and she also had never been one to half ass anything.
So yeah, she’d be damned.

"Do you hate me?"
Ryujin raised an eyebrow. Sayeon Lee always seemed to be in complete control, never once doubting herself, her path to victory a straight line to her and an Escher's cube to anyone with a normally functioning brain. Then again, Ryujin supposed, Sayeon Lee walked a lonely path. She laughed to herself. She should hate her, down to her fucking bones. "Hah. No. I don't hate you, Sayeon Lee." She scuffed her shoe against the pavement. A pebble came loose. "What brought this on?"
Sayeon was quiet for a while. Too long a while. Ryujin looked up, frowning, another question on her tongue, which melted away when she saw the look on Sayeon's face. Sayeon smiled. She raised her hand, middle finger and thumb pressed together.

"I didn't know," Sayeon says slowly, as the two of them begin making their way towards the piano. She turns her head, trying to meet Ryujin's gaze head-on, her earrings dangling as she does. They don't suit her. They're too...much. This entire thing is too much, actually. "That you played piano."
Ryujin just scoffs. She doesn't say, that was a long time ago, I'm probably real fucking rusty, and she doesn't say, Yesol was the one that taught me how to play, does that change your opinion of it? All she says, while resolutely staring ahead, is, "Yeah, well. There's a lot of things you don't know, Glasses."
