Summary
The room beyond was small by the standards of Paradise Manor, which was to say it was still larger than most peasants' entire homes. But it felt small, intimate. The walls were hung with fabric in deep reds and golds, embroidered with patterns of butterflies and flowers that seemed to shift and move in the low light. The floor was covered in layer upon layer of plush rugs, each one softer than the last, each one clearly chosen for comfort above all else. There were no windows, which Xie Lian supposed made sense for a room meant to hold scent.
And there, in the center of the room, was a nest.

Summary
The sounds Hua Cheng made reminded Xie Lian of other nights. Nights when they would tear the clothes from each other's bodies. Nights when Hua Cheng would hold him down and groan into Xie Lian's neck as they connected. It wasn't the direction Xie Lian expected—or even wanted—his mind to go. This was about taking care of his husband. There was no intention to take advantage of his plight or to objectify him in his time of need.
Moving to Hua Cheng's shoulder blades, Xie Lian's nails bit at his pale skin, and the moan he received was by far one of the most depraved and impassioned he'd ever heard.
"Right there! Oh my god, gege," Hua Cheng whined, "So good…"

Incredibly so.
Because Xie Lian deserves nothing but the finest robes of the Three Realms, made of the softest silks and sewn by the most dexterous of hands, but Xie Lian obstinately dresses in the humble Taoist robes he’s had for the past centuries. As much as Hua Cheng dislikes seeing his beloved in such worn and tattered robes hardly befitting of a god, he would never force Xie Lian into doing anything he didn’t want to.
