Summary
When Dean asks his friend with benefits, Cas, to spend Thanksgiving with him and his family, he isn’t expecting the feelings that the holiday dinner brings to the surface.
He and Cas have good sex.
Well, it’s great sex, if he’s honest, and they have it all the time and also get along like nobody’s business, but that’s all their relationship is, right?
Dean doesn’t think he’s so sure anymore.Bookmarked by swiftchester13

Summary
It’s just a joke. Dean adding Castiel Novak to his “Celebrity Freebie” list is just a joke. Dean has a girlfriend, and besides, it’s not like he’s ever going to meet Castiel, let alone sleep with him. Right?

Summary
At thirty-six, Dean Winchester is the Captain of Lawrence Fire Station 24 — respected, decorated, and trusted with lives when everything is burning down. He runs his crew with precision, authority, and gallows humor, the kind of man you want beside you when the smoke gets thick. He has the house. The career. The scars to prove he earned both.
What he doesn’t have is anyone waiting for him when the sirens go quiet.
Dean tries to explain why Castiel doesn’t fit into his life — too quiet, too gentle, too different from anyone he’s ever dated.
Sam, who’s heard every version of this argument before, gently points out the truth Dean keeps avoiding: maybe the problem isn’t Castiel’s differences — maybe it’s that Dean has spent his whole life choosing what’s safe instead of what he actually needs.
And maybe what he needs is someone entirely unfamiliar… even if that scares him.

"You've been dating the same type of person your whole life, and where has it gotten you? Alone in a house that's too quiet. You always go for what's easy, what's familiar. But maybe what you need isn't easy. Maybe what you need is different. Maybe what you need is a nerdy beekeeper who talks about feelings."

Summary
Castiel ends his relationship with Dean when he can no longer stand what they’ve become—two people circling the ghost of something they once cherished. Yet, despite the break, his love for Dean doesn’t fade. When Castiel returns to Dean’s apartment to gather the last of his things, he stumbles upon a folder of unsent emails—every one of them addressed to him.
As he reads, he discovers the truth Dean never had the courage to say aloud: that he loved Castiel deeply but never knew how to put those feelings into words.

Draft #18 — October 9, 2025
Subject: the night you left
Cas,
I didn’t sleep after you left. I sat on the floor until the light came up.
The space where your things were looks too big now. Empty in the wrong way.
I keep hearing your footsteps, even though I know they’re not there,
It’s funny—how quiet used to mean peace. Now it just means you’re gone
If you never come back, I want you to know this:
You were the best thing I ever had the guts to ruin.**
Each message is a confession written and deleted a hundred times, a silent record of everything Dean felt but couldn’t express until it was too late.
