While the Hero of Hyrule changes throughout the ages, their daemon never does. Time and time again, the hero's daemon would return to guide the newest incarnation of Hyrule's savior to victory against the forces of darkness. Legends say that she would always settle as a wolf, no matter what.
Link is twelve years old when his daemon takes the form of the wolf for the first time.

Summary
Wind had been used to passing spirit's and having them pay him no mind. The ghosts of this era didn't see him like he saw them, and they could hear him little. But this one... when Wind looked, this one looked back, it's eyes a piercing blue. It was a stark contrast to the blood and dirt that littered its form, from it's pale hair all the way to its bright blue tunic.
"You can see me," it said. And he could.
Where Wind meets a fallen knight in a lonely field, a hundred years after it's demise.

The sun peaked through the trees, showering his skin with warm kisses. The birds continued to sing, and the road stretched ahead of him, beckoning for him to come closer.
There was nothing he could do about being whisked away somewhere new. He was alone in a new, unfamiliar place, but that wasn't exactly new, was it? Standing up, Link dusted off his clothes. Get to walking, he thought. Get to walking, just as you've done a hundred times before. You'll be okay.
And walk he did.
