They were trapped.
Fire hadn’t broken through yet, but it was coming. Buck could feel the heat pushing in, wrapping around them like a warning. The smoke thickened, clawing at their throats, painting the walls with a haze of panic.
“So…” Eddie’s voice cut through the haze, rough around the edges but maddeningly calm. “You wanna talk about it now?”
Buck turned slowly, disbelief etched across every exhausted line of his face, and he hoped his deadpan glare said it all. He didn’t need to ask what Eddie was referring to.
No, he didn’t want to talk about how he accidentally told his best friend he loved him just hours earlier.
He’d rather let the fire take him.

Summary
The Tokyo Olympics are over. Nick has left France for the UK, where he will rejoin the British gymnastics team in his pursuit of the 2024 Olympics. Charlie is well on the road to recovery from the ill-timed knee injury that dashed his 2020 Olympic hopes, and is now once again training alongside his best friend. Oh, and they're boyfriends now!
Nick and Charlie may finally be ready to be together, but is the rest of the gymnastics world? Can they have their happily-ever-after and make their Olympic dreams come true, or will they have to choose?

Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)
