“No, actually,” Oona snapped, and there it was, that painted-on smile. “Best to not. I mean, we both know what we’re here for, right?”
When she met her eyes, the façade slipped. She brushed a strand of Ramona’s hair behind her ear. Ramona knew it for what it was immediately—cruelty. Too easy to fall into, too hard to tell if it was real. She wondered if Oona meant any of it.
She took the joint back.
“I guess we do.”
Ramona returns to Manhattan tomorrow; Oona isn’t ready to let her leave.

Summary
She sees Oona and it's nothing like the movies, the books, the musicals; the world doesn't stop – she would say it even goes faster, faster than anything she's ever experienced, faster than the fastest laps they've each set. Faster like everything around them is moving and passing by them and Oona is just standing there, unmoving, undeterred, untouched. She's known that Oona was gorgeous, she's known this since she first met the girl, she's not blind and the media certainly doesn't let her forget it, but there's a certain new beauty to her here – her race suit crumpled and haphazardly thrown open, her curls slightly unruly still; the remnants of the race from earlier still lingering in her bones.
(Or, the one where they're Formula One drivers and just as messy as usual.)
