Chakotay and Janeway have had an open relationship for some time. Chakotay and Tom Paris begin to pursue a relationship but it is not without difficulties and problems, as Tom struggles with what this entails. However, the discovery and exploration of another side to their relationship, as well as navigating the expanding constellation of their partnerships, helps them both in developing their connection.
