“What, exactly, do you intend to do with those children?” The clear voice cut through the crowd.
Wearing half a mountain’s worth of dirt and a patchy beard, the stranger reminded Six Balls of the Undead Bearded Bandit from pa’s bedtime stories. His hair fell in tangles to his waist, and bare, blackened feet poked out under the dirt-crusted robes.
He looked… He looked like a real hero who’d just rolled out of a fresh grave. The coolest, scariest kind of hero was the fresh-out-of-a-grave kind, in Six Balls’s opinion; that was when they were about to wreck the bloodiest vengeance on anything standing in their path.
“Children?!” yelled one of the stupider humans, who clearly didn’t know the best way to talk to an undead hero. (Don’t, if you can help it.) “These demons slaughtered six good men!”
Or: When Shen Qingqiu wakes up in his new plant body exactly one day later than he does in canon, it throws the plot in a whole new direction.

Luo Binghe develops a gap in his memory, one that is shaped specifically like Shen Qingqiu.
“Binghe, speak to this master,” Shen Qingqiu says firmly, and Luo Binghe gives him a strange look. Shen Qingqiu can’t place it and he leans forward, intending to get closer to see better. But the hand around his wrist instantly tightens to the point where it hurts, and Shen Qingqiu lets out a squawk of pain.“Binghe—!”
“Why do you keep calling me like that?” Luo Binghe returns, and Shen Qingqiu’s eyes widen at the way the words are devoid of any emotion. It is nothing though, compared to the force of what Luo Binghe says next. “Who are you?”

Shen Yuan wakes up after choking to death as a disciple of Qing Jing Peak only… why is Luo Binghe his Shizun!? And why does he look like the original Scum Villain, Shen Qingqiu!? He decides he only has one option for survival: hugging the Protagonist’s thighs.
Luo Binghe regrets his disciple’s qi deviation, but not who he turns out to be afterwards. Shen Yuan makes him want to reshape the world to be one that had to accept them both for who they were, and that might require more power than he has ever planned on having.
