“Jill? What’s up?” Chris leaned back against the kitchen countertop and looked outside to see the wind mess up his neat piled up leaves again.
“Hey! I’m just calling because I wonder if you could check whether I left something behind. I don’t need it right now, but I’d just like to know,” his friend requested. By the sound of it, she was calling him from inside of her car as a soft rock tune echoed through the vehicle and he could hear Carlos humming along in the back.
“Shoot, what is it I should be looking for?”
Right after those words left his mouth, Chris heard feet descending the stairs down in the hall and his jaw dropped to the floor when Leon waltzed through the dining room into the kitchen.
“I think one of my dresses fell from my bag. I can’t find it and I was intending to wear it to my dinner date tonight.”
