Kai’s days as a trainee passed in the same bleak, melancholy rhythm, heavy with an ever-present anxiety. It felt like his entire soul was held tight in the cold grip of winter, with not a hint of warmth or hope of escape. This routine might have stretched on indefinitely if it weren’t for the fact that a stranger—a boy he didn’t know—had started watching him in the most peculiar and persistent way.
