They were to cast a girl who looked inappropriately young for her age—an adult, obviously. But that didn’t sit right with Dad, who’s pushing his fifties. So he suggested Carl to his producer friend instead, and a beat and an audition tape later, Carl found himself with costume taking in the waist for all the women’s clothes they’d already bought.
