The question makes Shane’s brain short circuit.
Shane swallows. “I mean—yeah.”
“Then why haven’t you?”
“I don’t know.” Shane shrugs again, shoulders tight. “Timing. People. It’s just… not something I think about like that.”
That’s not entirely true.
He does think about it. Just in a different way. Abstractly. Like something other people do, but not he himself.
Ilya watches him for a long moment.

Summary
"You can't keep stalling," Ilya says.
At that, Shane glances up and glares, and the rising bruise on his cheek and one side of his mouth is dark and ugly in the golden light from overhead.
"Watch me." He's more pissed with himself than he is with Ilya, having gotten into a fight on the ice that got him sent to the penalty box at a critical moment and led to the Centaurs' defeat, but Shane Hollander is stubborn and has never known when to stop digging.
Ilya blows out a breath at that. "Okay, malysh. Fifteen minutes for you to do what you need, then meet me in the living room." He drags his gaze over Shane, from the mulish jut of his jaw to the unsettled scrunch and flex of his toes against the tile, and nods to himself. "You know what I expect."

Summary

Summary
Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.
