“Jesus Christ, you’ve been masturbating for the last 30 minutes! Aren’t you done yet?” A muffled voice called out, followed by three faint knocks from the wall behind her.
Ava’s hand froze, the image of the very attractive lady in her mind slowly but surely dissipating until all she could focus on is the plain white ceiling of her dorm room. And the annoying voice of her unknown neighbor.

“Who says I’m masturbating?” She called back, frustration bleeding into her tone.
“Either you’re fucking a mute or you make a habit of talking to others while you fuck. I hope for your sake it’s the former and not the latter because that is so bloody strange and disturbing.”

It was the first time Beatrice had heard such words spoken to her.
And for so many years, she thought it would be the last.
But time was a strange thing. And as Beatrice would eventually come to learn, moved slowly when one had the potential to live until time itself crumbled.
And as she moved with time, she clung to those words. Her name was Melanie, Beatrice learned later, and she clung to her for as long as she could.
Beatrice had resigned herself to never hearing them again, not from another's lips, and certainly not in her dreams.
Vampires, Beatrice realised quickly, didn't dream.
