Naerys had never thought she would wed either of her brothers, nor had there ever been a cause to. If she were to marry within the family, it would sooner be a cousin from King’s Landing, though there had been no pressing need for that either.
The dragons were long gone, there was little sense in clinging to old customs for the sake of blood alone. Father had never favoured such matches, mother even less so, so it was far more likely they would seek to mend and strengthen ties with the great houses of Westeros.
...still, she lay with her head resting against Daeron’s chest, listening to the slow, steady rhythm of his breath, while Aerion lay behind her, an arm tight about her waist.
