She grinned, unfazed. "What? It's true. So, what's the deal? Family reunion?"
He shrugged, signaling the waitress for coffee. "No idea. She was vague about it. Said 'you'll see' when I pushed."
Lucy tilted her head, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Huh. Mysterious. Maybe she's got big news? Like a new job or... oh, maybe she's seeing someone!"
Tim snorted. "Genny? Dating? She'd tell me if it was serious."
"Would she?" Lucy arched an eyebrow. "You two are close, but you're also... you. Mr. Protective Big Brother. She might want to ease you into it."
He considered that, stirring sugar into his coffee. Genny had dated on and off since her divorce, but nothing stuck. And yeah, maybe he had vetted a few guys a little too thoroughly. "If she's dating some loser, I'll find out soon enough."
Tim’s peaceful evening takes a nosedive when his sister’s “surprise” turns out to be the last coworker he ever wanted her dating.

Summary
They’re sitting in his car together, paused at the end of his drive: Tim at the wheel, Lucy browsing dog-friendly restaurants and Kojo squeezed in the front between them, with his tongue out and a huge dummy grin on his face. He’s slowed down a bit this past year or so, but Tim could swear he’s perked up over the last few days, since Lucy came home. He wonders if the change is that noticeable in him too, and finds himself hoping that it is, hoping that the whole world can see it like a neon sign over his head: yeah, I got the girl back, actually. Yeah, she really loves me. Everyone in the whole world wishes he was me.
Tim and Lucy and Kojo go out to dinner after S8E02. It's not all smooth sailing, but that's okay, because the all-new, emotionally healthy Tim Bradford can do many hard things, like giving compliments and eating goat's cheese and talking about his feelings. But only for Lucy Chen, of course.

Lucy smiles. “At ten thirty, I think. And it’s cute. She’s invested. They all are. There are a Pinterest board and a group chat named ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ now, which is… ah… let’s just say active.”
“You know, I have a solution if you want to do something about it,” Tim smirks as he goes to wash his hands in the sink. Kojo has wandered to his favourite evening spot and is lying on his back, all four paws up in the air to enjoy the last sunlight of the day. “Mute it.”
“Funny.” Lucy rolls her eyes. “No, it’s nice. I love that they’re having fun. I love that they’re happy for us. And I love that Angela is taking me to this exclusive bridal boutique. I do.”Series
