Summary
Marius returns from the dead, and something in Armand begins to change.
At first Daniel can blame five hundred years of grief, old conditioning, and a reunion neither of them ever expected to happen. Then Armand starts pulling away. The familiar rules between maker and fledgling begin disappearing one by one, and Daniel is left trying to understand how a marriage that once felt immovable became something he no longer knows how to stand inside.
Daniel has survived losing Armand before.
He is not sure he can do it again.

Summary
They’ve taken him.
The world spins wildly. A moon without an axis, a planet without a star. His breath stutters in his chest.
“I’ll be there by dusk,” Louis says, and hangs up before he can do something ridiculous like sob.

Or: Daniel doesn’t make it to the eighth floor in time. And Louis remembers that the most precious things are also the most fragile.

Summary
No, this is no great departure from that. That, the well-trodden road past the nightmare, complete with adamant and sweeping denial that he was even dreaming at all. If it were New Orleans, they might already even be laying back down, Lestat already waxing poetic on the ‘bad blood’ he must have had that evening and the horrors it does for one’s sleep.
And yet, it is not New Orleans. Bummer. Louis could use a smoke.

Summary
“You, Daniel Molloy, stand accused of a heinous crime: the murder of the vampire Marius de Romanus—“
“It was murder, sure, but it was hardly a crime.” Daniel paused, an easy smile stretching across his remarkably unbothered face given the window just barely shuttered above him, daylight peeking around the edges. “I didn’t do it,” he added, “Not gonna lie, it’s actually pretty flattering that you think a three-year-old like me managed to kill someone who’d been around for two millennia.”

Summary
Arms closing under his back and steadying him, he watches as Lestat groans, eyes squeezing shut. He moves a hand under the knees, bringing Lestat to the couch carefully.
"S-sorry, chéri," Lestat attempts to say, "I am having second thoughts on the walk it seems."
And Louis cannot help the snort he makes, shaking his head incredulously. "You are ridiculous," he states, teasingly, and earns a pained smile. A moment passes before Louis' face dips into a more serious expression. "Your hips, again?"
Lestat swallows, turning to look away.
