This is rlly goood oh I just wanna hug idia he just loves his brother hugs to leona too I love that section bout the harsh lies Leona is used to, almost like a fight for survival in contrast to idia and ortho with soft lies and redirection oh Leona with his emotionally constipated way of caring I am a sucker for night confessions trope esp under the stars even if they didn't confess everything or normally bcos they're leoide ofc they can't and I'm also a sucker for ppl with no purpose beyond one thing or person or none at all learning how to live for themselves so this is as idia would say a K.O. (also the parallels between them both being geniuses but with nowhere to rlly go)

Ahhh why are the good ones alw incomplete they were so sweeeet tgt no judgment just kids having fun and playing chess poor idia his only friend other than ortho just forgot him and he rlly doesn't have any other social interactions. I rlly like how this explores why leona went after malleus bcos he finally has a motivation, finally has smth to work for and smth to be proud of and take care of, with the club like his own little kingdom that came falling down bcos of malleus, a factor he can't control, a person just born better than him, another crown prince, all over again. And it's so painful bcos he actl got a reason to try, got encouraged by someone who saw potential and didn't just scorn him and his genius and even did the same for ruggie (which is just sweet I love how their relationship is written here they're both helping each other), found a place where he wasn't just the hated second prince, then he comes out to be second again god if only this approach for book 2 it would've been so good
