Summary
Ormund's face opened into a smile when he saw Daeron approach. To any outside observer it was the smile of a loyal servant greeting his beloved sovereign. He stepped forward and took Daeron's hands in his own and kissed him on both cheeks.
A mockery, Daeron thought, stepping away to climb the steps of his throne. A mockery a mockery a mockery.
The Dance is over and every Targaryen has fallen save one. King Daeron has worn the crown for three years, yet he rules nothing—not the realm, not his court, not even his own body. That honor belongs to his Hand, Ormund Hightower.

Summary
In a twist of fate, Queen Aemma survived her last traumatic birth while their son did not. Otto Hightower continued to scheme; he still pushed his young daughter into the king's bed. He whispered into the queen's ears, saying she can still be a mother again even if they were half-Hightower, unknowing of what would soon come. Aegon was born in the middle of a deep, secret scandal. Alicent stews in resentment with ever shifting targets, Aemma in obsession born from grief.

Summary
History remembers the Dance of the Dragons as a war between Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon II.
History, however, has a habit of forgetting people.
When Queen Aemma Arryn dies giving birth to fraternal twins instead of Baelon, the line of succession fractures long before Viserys I Targaryen draws his final breath.
Prince Luxaerys wants nothing to do with crowns. Princess Luxaera understands them far too well. Otto Hightower has plans. Daemon Targaryen is still a terrible influence. And somewhere between duty, dragons, and destiny, the realm begins marching toward a war no one can stop.
The maesters wrote of the Dance.
They forgot the prince who never wanted a throne… and the princess who never needed one to change history.
