It was all Mira's fault really.
She really should have known that Rumi hadn't been paying attention when she'd said yes to studio time on their day off.
And yeah, yeah Rumi could just be a big girl and say she actually doesn't want to go to the studio, that she'd wanted to spend their first day off in ages in bed together. Preferably naked.
But Rumi is a professional, and anyway, where's the fun in that?
Rumi drives Mira insane by spending the entire morning saying her new favourite word until Mira decides she really has to do something about that.

Summary
The last note rang out of her throat, swallowed immediately by roaring applause and– it left Rumi… cold. Not uncomfortably so, just not warm. Her heart rate had abruptly slowed, evened out to something that was barely noticeable. She smiled out at the crowd because she knew she should be. Turning back to her girls she smiled at them too, barely contained excitement visible in their eyes.
The moment they were off stage, Mira and Zoey began cheering.
"Did you see that!?", Zoey screamed. "Gold! It's gold! It's still gold, oh my GOD!"
"We did it", Mira was saying breathlessly. "We like, actually did it."
"Do you know what this means, Rumi!?", Zoey screamed, grabbing Rumi's shoulders and shaking her. Rumi got the sense that she should have been laughing.
The honmoon is successfully sealed golden and Rumi feels… fine. Maybe not quite fine. Maybe Rumi feels nothing at all.
A very serious AU about fucking Rumi silly.

“You almost burned down our apartment!” Rumi sent her a baffled glare as she marched towards their now-ashy kitchen.

The last thing Detective Ryu Rumi needed after a long day at work was to find Zoey—best friend since college and paramedic extrordinaire—frantically trying to quell the flaming mess that once was their tiny apartment's stove. What she needed even less was said friend proceeding to call her out for her horribly-timed crush on the responding Fire Lieutenant. Oh, and there’s an arsonist on the loose, too.
Lucky her.
