The last thing he saw before darkness of the portal swallowed him up was Kisuke’s smile. Despite the pale tiredness of his face, his lips were kind, and the smile was almost too bright against the darkness.

Ichigo landed, barely holding himself upright, only to see an active battle field. Adults with powers attacking children, a huge monster beating down a man in all black, and a person with hands all over him reaching to attack a child.His body moved before he even thought about it.
