His friends aren't helpful at all, and he will be stuck with the burden if danger ever does confront him. Maybe he should stop intruding on the narrative and stop asking questions. Alex couldn’t help but think of how different things would’ve been if it didn’t feel like the universe was out to get him. Maybe he would’ve won the championship, or at the very least there would’ve been a closer fight between himself and Emanuele. He didn’t let himself think about it too much, though, as he didn’t want his own mood to sour the team celebrations. He could wallow in his misery some other time.
