Summary
Autumn likes ordinary things.
Late nights at the bookstore. Coffee that’s gone cold before she remembers to drink it. Rain against the windows. Long walks home through the woods. The quiet that comes when there’s no one around to ask anything of her.
Bellweather is a small, uneventful town, and Autumn has grown accustomed to its routines. But lately, something about the woods has felt different.
Then there are the sounds she can't explain, the strange feeling of being followed, and the growing sense that the forest is hiding something just beyond the edge of what she can see.
Autumn has always found comfort in the quiet.
