Summary
Jennifer “Jenny” Hǎ notices the things other people overlook. The way sunlight filters through tree branches. The patterns left behind by ripples on a koi pond. The small moments that disappear almost as soon as they arrive. Then, at sixteen, something falls from the sky into her backyard.
Suddenly, Jenny is living with an impossible secret, a body she no longer fully understands, and the realization that she might be one of the first superpowered people the world has ever known. Growing up was already difficult enough. Now she has to decide what those powers are actually for.
A slow-burn, character-first coming-of-age story that uses a superhero origin to explore grief, identity, disability, and moral growth.
The first novel in the MEPHIS series, set in the Everlight universe, a contemporary world where the appearance of the first superpowered individuals begins to reshape society. Can be read as a standalone work.
