Pete is a trouble magnet and a bringer of Bad Luck. Getting attacked by supervillain twice in one tour is an unfathomably stupid coincidence, but it's not like it's his fault! He gets spider powers after the first attack, then a crush on an alien after the second. Things might be looking up for him.
Meanwhile, Mikey is really tired all of the time. Earth is fucking weird, superheroes are fucking weird, and he kind of just wants to leave. Getting to play at being a hero was NOT intentional, and neither was crushing on some human boy he saved from getting stomped to death. He knows that he shouldn't bother getting involved, but it's hard to stay away.
