He leaned over Sirius’ sleeping form for long minutes, lost in memories. He looked at Sirius’ face once again; he couldn’t get over how gaunt and haunted he looked, more than he had ever seen him, and he had seen him in pretty bad conditions before. His heart clenched painfully at the reminder. He tried to think of a hundred different things but his thoughts kept coming back to one word, whispered in his best friend’s broken voice.
