Summary
When Sansa is born to the Warden of the North it is during the Springtime, with the scent of flowers in the air and the bright sunshine of the day. She is a small thing with a shock of red hair on the top of her head and eyes so blue they remind Eddard of the ice that haunts the halls of Winterfell even in the spring.
Her daemon is a girl–not the first time that this has happened, but her family had a boy name chosen. It’s days before a name is pulled to the surface.
Jessamine. It is uttered in the dark of the night by Eddard, his wife and daughter beside him.
Sansa Stark and Jessamine the daemon.
Eddard knows they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Summary
As a child, Robb had few regrets.
His father would have insisted it was because he was a child without any blood on his sword and his head in the clouds. As a teen, Robb’s regrets were more along the lines of childsplay–sparring that lasted too long, going for a ride with too few furs, drinking too much.
But now, Robb is a king.
King in the North.
And his regrets match those of a boy turned man far too suddenly. He regretted letting his father leave the North, not hugging Sansa tightly enough as she left, not teaching Arya at least the basics of how to use a sword.
The death of his father marks the beginning of a war and Robb regrets not riding Southward with them months ago. But Robb was Lord of Winterfell in Ned’s stead and now he is King of the North in his death.
His reign is marked with regrets.

Summary
Sansa cannot pull her eyes away from the image of her face in the vanity mirror.
Her eyes trace the shape of her features, the curve of her shoulders–the length of her neck. The bright red of her hair is a bright contrast compared to the paleness of her skin, no matter how much time she spends in the sun she cannot rid herself of the sickly pallor.
When did she become her mother’s mirror image?
It is as if the distraction of the past few months hid the growth from her.
But here it is, as obvious as the shape of her daemon and pulling at her heart at the thought of the familiarity.

Summary
Sansa has grown used to hiding her true feelings while in King’s Landing, and despite the airs that Baelish puts on about being a master of understanding those that fill the world–rarely does he see past the mirage she puts forward.
Of course, the mirage is partially his design. Her dark hair, dark clothing, silver jewelry, are all the pieces of a man trying to twist her into the image of her mother when she was a child.
The thought does not escape her.
She allows him the belief that he has crafted her into a woman that he admires, all the while whispering to Jessamine of the hopes she carries about the soldier that follows in the distance.
Baelish has yet to notice her separation.
It’s embarrassing for a man who claims such awareness to miss what is right below his nose, and still it is an unknown to him.
