Summary
Monstruous was the adjective she had used when describing the six. Monstruos would be the one used for herself by those that warned of evil spirits to kids trying their best to live in a place about to disappear beneath the sound of soldiers sent by men powerful enough to believe themselves gods as opposed to parasites. She had found comfort on the term, had found solace in the idea of the mask being one and the same.
And yet.

Summary
She had heard the way Atsu's breath caught when she had moved closer as she had taught her how to listen, how to move like her. Had seen the way the younger woman had looked and glanced and had listened and grasped for the music to suffuse her in a state that would carry her away. Had felt the way Jubei had tilted his head, so similar to his sister's when Atsu had sang for the three of them, each verse an idea, an image, of what she saw of them.

Summary
Because if there was a legacy to impart, she realized she wanted that one to be her final stance. The one she had thought was but an empty grave.
And so she turned and took on Jubei's face. On the way she herself felt the first hold of fear, of the fear of not being able to fullfill her just made promise. She refused to glance at her right though, where Oyuki stood, refused to take more of what she felt herself capable of.Greediness would not be what marred her. That much she was certain.

Summary
"Have you ever thought of having a family?"
And Atsu had known when Jubei had asked the question that he was only focusing on one single iteration out of that doubt. She had not quite replied then, had not fully given an answer that was satisfactory enough. (...) Getting to accept one's internal needs was easier than accepting that one wanted to be alive, after all. And she had come, after so many wilted flowers and so many songs played with the shamisen and so many ghosts coming forth to her on nights that lowered the higher end of the sky far too much, that she wanted to live. To exist in the beyond Jubei's question had given shape to.
