“What is it really, Zayne? Are you jealous?”
You take a savage pleasure in how much the accusation shakes him. His breathing hitches and he narrows his eyes, glowering back at you, brow furrowed and lips set in a thin, furious line.
“What could there possibly be for me to be jealous of?” A muscle in his jaw twitches as he fights to keep his tone civil.
Your eyes drift to the fancy red and black envelope on his desk next to your chart, starkly bright against the white and grey of everything else in the room. The thick paper is slightly crumpled, like his first impulse on receiving it was to screw it up, before maybe thinking better of it halfway through.

The week of your wedding you find out that your doctor has been tracking the late night spikes in your heart rate through your watch. Not only that, he knows where you are when they happen: The N109 Zone. But it's not just your fiancée's identity that really has Zayne so riled up, and he's decided that he's finally going to take what he's always wanted from the one that got away.

Summary
You throw open the door before he has to ring the bell a third time, pretending to be happy and excited rather than manic and tense. Zayne takes you in: slightly wild, embarrassed eyes, dishevelled hair, t-shirt on backwards, cheeks flushed, toothbrush still hanging out of your mouth.
Concern floods his gaze and his brow furrows.
“Are you alright?”
With the door open he can hear the shower running; he looks into your apartment and towards your bedroom. The furrow deepens, and so does your blush.
“Is someone else here?”

You didn't mean to fall asleep so late in the afternoon, but you wake up at dusk with a ruby-eyed man in your bed and your ever-proper doctor-turned-boyfriend ringing your doorbell.
As you frantically figure out how to make it up to Zayne, you realize that maybe your little nap wasn't exactly an accident.
After all, it was inevitable that they were going to meet one of these days...
