“This is the worst headache of my life,” Junichirou moans, pressing the heels of his palms into his eyes and digging in, as if that will appease the consistent pounding against his skull.
Atsushi winces in sympathy, hands squeezing out excess water into the bowl next to Junichirou’s head. “I’m sure. It looks like it.” With the rag sufficiently damp with cool water - but not soaking - Atsushi lightly taps one of Junichirou’s wrists with a wet finger. “Move your hands so I can put this over your eyes.”
Junichirou complies, but not without flinching at the bright light peeking through the blinds. “We need to invest in blackout curtains, Atsushi.”
“I’ll mark that down, right next to putting in your request to the President allowing us to take our Agency-issued firearms home.”

Every rainy day, every cold gust of wind, every odd movement…pain follows. It burrows deep into his muscles and bones, a deeply ingrained agony he can never get rid of, no matter how hard Byakko tries to heal him. The pain exists, and that is all he can do. He’s used to the agony.
